At least you got a warning, planet rock and Scala shut down their DAB transmission totally out the blue. I had to replace two DAB radios with DAB+ radios.

Switching to FM. Britain is a small country. In the USA and Canada there are vast rural areas that can only receive AM or Medium wave. Medium wave signals travel much farther than FM signals, especially at night.
Australia too. I don’t think you’ll ever get rid of AM here, and unlike the USA we don’t have HD radio here, only DAB+ which is already a failure since Australia’s vast land areas mean it’s coverage can’t compete with AM, FM and mobile phone towers
