This is from the night of Sunday 1st December 1985, going into Monday 2nd December. It had been exceptionally cold in November before suddenly becoming, as David Miles says, very mild, with some record high temperatures on the day this forecast is for.
I love this. I live in the US and I think this is very interesting. I am trying to learn about the BBC and everything UK. I hope one day to visit the UK,it would be my dream vacation. I love learning about the UK and if anyone wants to be a pen pal with me leave me a message. Thank you.
The last closedown I recall seeing was about a year ago on BBC2 after Arrested Development (awesome show, terrible timeslot) when it went into pages from ceefax until 6am. Ify ou class that as a closedown anyway.
@AidanLunn I know why they showed S&H at 7.40pm. It must have been one of the less gritty or less violent episodes from the later seasons, probably either s3 or s4. Might even have been a more family-friendly episode from season 2. I remember them repeating season 4 episodes at a later slot in the late 1980s, especially a funny one where Starsky is pulling funny faces at a man trying to kill him.
@RobinCarmody This day was actually when the UK snooker championship was won by Steve Davis this year thanks to Willie Thorne mssing that blue. Did you know it was on this day?
