What did staff at The BBC do when the test card was on? Feet up having a cuppa or nip out for a bag of chips and a coca cola that's what i think any road.
I remember when the BBC 2 Ident was changed in 1986 to 1991 but for some reason they did not change the Ident of BBC 2 in this test card until the next change in 1991
The 1986 BBC2 ident didn't feature for the very good reason that engineers and others would find it hard to work out it was tuned to BBC2, so it was felt in the end that the old striped logo was easier to read on the test card!!!!
Stencilled serif 'TWO' identity was possible on the main channel symbol, the accompanying clock, the accompanying programme captions and accompanying programme menus etc it wasn't possible to use it on the accompanying version of Test Card F. Test Card F with the twin striped BBC2 typeface started being used in 1984 and soldiered on until Feb '91.
