Bboy Amir at Unbreakable 2021 

He’s got a very appreciable style but most of what he’s doing is basic it’s more that his stage presence is immense. He acts like the stage was made so he could dance on it and he already owned you before he starts. A lot of his rythym tricks were luck on the first hit then he started hitting deliberately. What makes him hard to follow is he uses his arms and legs in opposition so he rotates back and forth winding and unwinding. It reminds me a lot of remind and crumbs as well as a few OSA peeps. It looks like old nineties contortions with modern rythym play. I really really like it he’s clearly gonna beat most people I called him a miracle earlier but I have to disagree that he’s doing anything new. He’s cleaner and more technical but not new. Didn’t see anything I haven’t seen before. Again crumbs and remind, osa and even ground zero crew did a lot of this sort of twisting contorting odd rotational stuff. He’s doing it extremely clean but it’s there I believe I’ve seen other bboys who have more original ideas but don’t have the stage presence. Just my opinion but disagree.

@@dorjedriftwood2731 i have to disagree......ive always been a fan of Remind...Crumbs...and Ground Zero.....yes they have similarities....but Amir has taken it to a whole nother level....the angles and positions that he does his opposition movements are insane. The difficulty level has been raised by Amir. Remind...Crumbs...and Ground Zero opened the portal....but its been over 15 years since anyone has added to that style. "Basic" moves done at an extremely level of difficulty.

Feel like a lot of people missed the early 2000 late nineties. This stuff reminds me of most of what people were doing in the freestyle session 7 era with the new emphasis on rythym from modern day. It feels very derivative to me.

What's your point? That there were original bboys before Amir? Amir style isn't that similar to Exube, Bebe or Rawbzilla? Those guys did influence the scene, and I am sure their influence filtered down, but I think his moves and combos are his own. I would say his style is evolved from Ground Zero though...he is pushing things further. Also saying his stuff is basic is laughable.

Yes, it looks like some inspiration has been drawn from Crumbs (particularly in the top rock style) and there might be inspiration from others too, but as far as I'm concerned Amir has synthesised it into his own combinations and with his own flavour and imagination, which for me is a more than sufficient bar for originality. I've watched so much breaking over more than two decades and I'd say he's definitely one of the more creative b-boys, and one of my new favorites. And his moves are definitely NOT basic - some of them require exceptional coordination and strength. One thing I do agree with you is Rawbzilla is an excellent reference for creativity - I think he's one of the most creative b-boys ever, and one of my all time favorites.
