I almost lost my baby girl (8 yearold Pit) back in January. Noone really knew and still don't. I was a wreck and Thank God i had a friend help me out money wise. I also buried a son, a mother and my grandmother all in 3 years while going through a divorce also while fighting with my father who i don't speak with. Lord knows i need a good giod deep cry lol

Wow, I needed to hear what you said about mother/son relationships. I had my first child in April, and I feel like I have no room to love my partner because my baby boy is all that matters to me. I can’t help it right now. But I do not want to be one of those mothers you’re describing when he’s older. I want him to grow up to have healthy, loving relationships with his romantic partners.

Put plainly AntiBlackness in (some) folks from Cabo Verde is similar to that what we see worldwide with internalized racism. Many are that way towards the Senegalese who are their neighbors. It happens in Louisiana, Jamaica, Brazil & across Africa. It's just as many Creole folk (not all) feel superior to darker Black folk from the U.S. AND elsewhere. Those dynamics exist everywhere even as languages, accents & geography differ.

I have 4 daughters and 1 son. I've never understood mothers that are soooo emotionally invested into their sons. I love my son to life and will always want what's best, I will be there whenever he needs me... But I don't feel the need to have some weird stronghold on him when it comes to him dating. I just don't get it, and I'm a single mom.
