In this first episode of Build Biology, I go over how to properly and safely convert BBS RS2s, or any other 2 piece face mounted wheel, from a 2 piece to a 3 piece wheel. This is also applicable to anyone converting a 1 piece monoblock wheel to a 3 piece wheel by milling off the face. I'll go over a brief history of 3 piece wheels, the anatomy of a 3 piece wheel, and how to properly and safely assemble a face mounted 3 piece wheel for structural integrity.

Hey! Thank you for your help, I am also planning to convert my BBS RS2 795 faces into 3 piece with step up from 18" to 19" inch. Could you help out on the correct lip and barrel sizes? I am also going to run on a Mk6 GTI :D !

Cool video. 3 piece looks sick, but I was doing some research and bbs claimed to “evolve” the original RS 3 piece design to a 2 piece design for the RSii to make stronger more durable wheel. wouldn’t converting it to 3 piece make the wheels weaker/ more prone to issues?

It depends. Some people have issues when they step up the size of the wheel too much, or they run a really big lip. Obviously the wheel face wasn’t designed to do that. The face mount means you need to have the register of the barrel supported, that’s where most people have issues.

Hello, I'd like to build my OEM RS2 803 to 3peice, but I cannot find on the internet any dimensions about the spokes and the bolts PCD etc. I don't want to disassemble the wheels, to measure. Is there any website where these datas are available? Or I have to measure it by myself? Thanks in advance.
