The good thing about WGM is they are able to bring two person together within several months. But the bad side is if they didn't get to date in real life, it'll be awkward. I don't think they ever stopped talking guys. Joy is very close with Changsub, Sungjae's best friend. We saw Joy talking to him every year from 2016-18. If she is close with Changsub ,then what more with Sungjae with whom she spent a year with ?? It's just that we only see the on camera version.
