110 volts is for construction sites. 240 to 110 volt transformer output is 110 volts between live and neutral. Coil on 110 volt side of transformer is centre tapped to earth meaning it's 55 volts between live and earth for safety. When it's dark in the winter red lights are a warning, green indicate an access.
I have seen both “red & green” bulkhead lights of that style next to the shutter doors on a fire station = indicating if the parking bay is occupied by a fire engine/appliance = red, or if it is empty = green, when they are returning from a call-out and the doors are closed. The control system might run on 110v?
Probably the result of some corporate purchaser who insisted on having a 110V-rated fitting for a construction project, and refused to accept that a 240V fitting can be used for anything up to 240V. The manufacturer probably sold them a ton of special edition lights at twice the normal unit price, just with a pretty little 110V sticker attached.
Hi Jaye, at last a green bulk lens bulk head lamp, and yes you can connect to 240v on a 3 or 5 amp circuit. My be fit them above your shed door " Enter " on green and " Do not Enter " on red, great video ,hope you get you 400 subscribers soon, Take care
Hi Jaye, I've seen you in the various Facebook lighting groups for years, didn't realise you had a RU-vid channel! Interesting little videos here, mate! Ive seen those green/red bulkhead lights used around boat marinas, to mark port & starboard on entrances etc.
The fact was you could use any voltage lamp in this fitting. Lamp holders are not voltage regulated so why 100v when you can put any voltage to it. Thats the question
