Mr. Roger Penske is our modern day Anton Hulman Jr. It seems to be a true destiny that he is now, along with the help of Doug Boles, "The Guiding Force" of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and The Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. The 500 is the event that I base my entire calendar around. Please keep up your great work HMM! (PS; That final photo of Bryan Clausen really stirs my emotions and brings a tear to the eye. Such a wonderful young man, gone too soon but God had other plans for him. He will live forever in my heart.)
As much as I enjoyed seeing K. Larson here, I really liked the interview with Kevin Woody. Thank you for your service Kevin and I wish you all the very best in your racing career.
I'd like to do an entire feature on Vukovich. If I had to pick one, he's my all-time favorite racing hero. Always King of the Brickyard to me...thanks!
Hi History Mystery Man. I found your story about Billy Vukovich walking to work to the Indy 500 quite an interesting story. As you mentioned, he lost his life that day. I was friends with Billy Vukovich III in Fresno, CA. Unfortunately, Billy Vukovich III also lost his life in a race many years ago at Bakersfield Speedway. True family tragedies.
Thank you history man. This was one cool video.. Racing is fun , I miss driving. I use to race Micro Sprint's. Want to get into Midgets and Sprint's to. Just never had the right opportunity. Still a huge fan , always will be.
It's so hard to race these days...the commitment, the money, the time. It's nearly impossible without good, dedicated help. You're welcome sir; I appreciate your support...
@@HistoryMysteryMan Definitely...you gotta have good dedicated help. When I raced , I did everything. I had alittle help once in awhile. Other then that it was just me. And good sponsors are a plus. Keep making these awesome videos....👍
How did the Sprint Cars get split into two groups, Wings and No-wings. I have always wondered how all that happened and why. I also would like to say how much I loved the old Indy Car roadsters. I remember sitting at my desk at home as a child drawing pictures of those beautiful cars.
That's a really good question about the wings. Seems like wings evolved in certain parts of the country...out in Pennsylvania for sure, while everything remained non-wing in Indiana...still like that today. I think when the World of Outlaws came out in '78...that really set off the winged revolution. I agree on the front-engine roadsters...in my opinion the absolute prettiest race cars ever built...and nothing has surpassed them since. Thanks Stephen.
HMM,............. another 25 min of escape to open wheel racing present and, past. I perked up when Kyle answered his interest in running the 500. Liked your recognition when passing in front of bleachers. Subscribing to HMM was a great move as your content is my kind of enjoyment. 🏁✌️🏆
I cannot disagree...best in the country right now...incredible. There was an awesome sprint car driver from Pennsylvania back in the 60s and 70s by the name of Mitch Smith...he was amazing! Thanks Mitch!
As a race fan and a HUGE Larson fan.. I hope i never see him in an Indy car. Ive witnessed way too many drivers die or get horribly injured in an Indy car. I have zero intrest in seeing him climb in one.
