Bill Blinky yeah they're of all very similar quality. I know the ARB, TJM & Ironman brands are all at least $100 or more dearer than the XTM brand. I'm going to upload a new video with an update almost a year on...I had the rubber block on the legs ( it holds the legs up into the channel mount ) rubbing on the canvas and it had actually frayed through a bit, only noticed yesterday while out 4 Wheeling so ducked up to my local BCF today, unrolled it far enough to show the manager the wear marks on the canvas and he didn't even question it, happily helped me remove it off my car in the carpark and gave me a brand new boxed one as a replacement 👍 That's EXACTLY the reason I would rather spend maybe $30 or $40 more at a bricks and mortar store than some online Supacentre that makes you post it back to QLD at your own expense and then wait weeks to months for a replacement ( if you're lucky ) I will pop a video on here about that. Yeah they're not bad those tent "rooms", never got one myself but have seen a few around, not a bad idea at all and great if camping for a longer period and you get wet weather. Cheers and don't forget to check out my dedicated channel now - ru-vid.com

Freetasman - mate you won't regret it ! We use ours heaps, great for day trips but we use ours mostly to put our two swags under just to keep a bit of the rain off as an extra precautionary measure. Thanks for your reply, I got it and now I am looking for roofrack brackets to mounting it. I am planning to use ex HDD magnets to secure the walls to the van. It will be a good room for the dog to sleep and free some space inside. I am happy with BCF, I got the 38 ts Engel from them. My blog is on www.plottier.net with trips on Tasmania, van conversion and nature photography..

Yeah the problem with pulling the sides out first is I don't like how much pressure and sag it then puts on the awning itself and where it mounts, the whole lot tilts forward when you do that and I think over time, this could affect its integrity. And I've tried rolling it up overhang but due to the width of the aluminium section that holds the drop down poles, it doesn't ended up aligning back into the protective cover if that makes sense.....I just copy rolling it up in the opposite manner to which I unrolled it initially. No mate, roof bars are just fine on their own. You definitely don't need a tray or basket or cage for them to work. I've just set up an awning on another vehicle with just two Rhino rack bars and works a treat - some homemade brackets to fit the rhino bars and bob's ya uncle ! 😄 If you head over to my dedicated channel - ru-vid.com ( and on facebook & instagram ) - you can see an install video on it. Mate it's going brilliantly. About to change the spigots on the side bars where they push into the front cross bar section - just so they slot through both holes for a bit more stability but other than that, mate it's still going strong. BEERA GONE WHERE I didn’t mention it in the clip which I should have but no what I normally do is shorten one of the legs slightly, ie : lower it down a little, so one side front corner is lower than the other side so the water all runs down off it 😉👍
