No matter what angle you hear it from, JSU won it. BCU tried to play something new and well...…. we see how that ended. Nice sound from BCU. But fail on song selection and crowd entertainment and wow factor. JSU Nice sound. Nice song selection and wow factor. That Scar song from JSU was the nail in the coffin.
JSU not only showed why they are the "Sonic Boom of the South," they sound wonderful. It's one thing to be loud and all but they sounded crystal clear. I've heard them over the years and they are consistent. And the progressions were wonderful in each song. Signs of a great musical leadership team. That last song by JSU "Scar", sent BCU home. I get it. Nice 5th Q tho.🤷🏿♀️
Wow, it’s amazing that hundreds of band members from both schools will obtain a college degree and hopefully become gainfully employed in the future. Congratulations to both bands y’all were outstanding. No losers in my book.
This was the best commentary out of all the other clips, I come back to watch this when I need a laugh 🤣😂🤣😂 #whataretheygonnado #theyshouldhavestucktoASAP 🤣😂🤣🤣
Jsu won clearly better book, stronger sound, buty like always they played down to the competition. for once i wanna see Jackson COME OUT SWINGING FIRST SONG!!!
No they didnt.. The tubas got off tempo because of the dm on the left..and to correct it a number of tubas on the left decrease their sound to stop and start back up in the right place while tubas on the right were keeping the arrangement going.. Dont get it twisted.. Jsu fans of course was looking for something.but the error was definitely not because the tubas didn't know the music... And other than that lil error Cookman held their own.. I loved the battle from both overall.. And wish nothing but the best for both.
No type of offense.. But this book thing is beyond the subject.. I'm focus on can they play... Because Hbcu bands go old school a lot.. And they gotta be doing something right in order to have the numbers they have Year after year.. I think ppl are just mad because bcu is really well known.. And wants to diminish them definitely when there's some type of mess up even if it ant a big of a mess up. Because no one can argue with me, that what happen at the game was a rare thing.. And even after that you didn't hear nothing like that happening again..
And they play new music ALL THE TIME... And no one can argue with me on that one either, and thats because they play new music during halftime.. So stepping (outside of the box) thats a false statement in regards to playing new music... They also have transferred that music to the stands, but its either ppl to busy bashing them to notice it or some one just didnt record it to post.. But this is true..
@@tcmitchell5130 A Lot of HBCUs are really well known. What that got to do with anything? I can tell you first hand no one was looking for errors bc we knew that BCU is a very good band and we knew they were going to bring it but they still messed up either way you look at it and they did it multiple times during the game also. Maybe it was the dms or something else but nonetheless, they still showed out but they was not on JSU level this game.
One thing I've learned about the Meac/Swac debates is that most Swac fans already come in biased especially when it comes to bands like BCU and FAMU. If every song is not being blasted, then they are considered boring. BCU and FAMU and other Meac bands get tagged with being boring with dated books even when they play new music because folks minds are already made up. Folks have to realize that's it's a reason that band like BCU and FAMU get invited to a lot of events because they know how to entertain. BCU is the only band that can say they've been to almost every if not every HONDA BOTB and there is a reason for that. Their formula works for them just like JSU's works for them. Most of the critics are not really listening to the music being played even if it's new, rather, they are listening for how LOUD it is. There is much more to a band than it's volume. One thing is for certain and two things for sure, most BCU fans will say they won this battle and JSU fans will say they won the battle. I look at it this way, these are two different bands from two conferences with two different styles and each of their respective styles work for them. For the audience, it's all a matter of preference. Being a Meac school alum, I give credit when its due and if I thought one was better I'd say so. I liked both bands and I thought both were good - they are two of my favorites. They both did what they do best.
@a jack Listen the notion that JSU and SU have said no to attending Honda is neither here nor there. I think the point was misunderstood or outright missed. Honda is one the biggest BOTBs there is for HBCU bands because some HBCU bands have never been privileged to get the votes to receive a single invite let alone being invited to every one as BCU has. I'm not an alum of either school, but I am bandhead. As a true bandhead, I am highly aware of JSU's status because JSU is my favorite SWAC band and I always give them their props so no research is required in that regard. My point was then and is now when it came down to these two bands BCU and JSU is that they both have their own styles and processes of doing what they do and folks should simply respect that. No need for fans of either of these bands to bash the other's programs, because both have solid successful programs. They BOTH stick to their traditions and do what they are known for and BOTH of them did a great job from what my eyes witnessed.
@a jack No worries. As I stated, when BCU does play new music it's like folks don't give them the benefit of the doubt because they still play the old music with the news songs they add. The one thing BCU knows how to do is entertain and no one can say they don't because there's too much video footage on this forum to prove otherwise. It's just that the formula for BCU's shows are new to some who have never seen them but has become more than predictable to others who have over the years. Again I will state, Mr. Wells sticks to what he knows and what works for his band program and folks just have to respect that. It's their tradition, just like JSU have certain things they do that are traditional like playing "Get Ready," spelling JSU in almost all of their field shows, as well as, the playing of certain hypes songs every year like "Neck," "We Came to Play," etc. So when it comes down to it, it's all a matter of preference.
false..I marched for a SWAC band, but i went to high school in Atlanta, and we were FAMU based..I appreciate both styles, but Cookman is boring as hell! I prefer FAMU and Norfolk over some SWAC bands..its all about being entertained, and Cookman doesnt do tht
@@jj3a1 That's is certainly your opinion and everyone is entitled to their preferences even you. You find Cookman boring and they don't entertain you, but they have legions of fans who have a much different opinion than yours.
