In Joe Rogan's podcast, Alex Honnold said he's only a part-time vegetarian. He eats meat occasionally. He also almost exclusively ate meat during his Antarctica trip which was featured on Reel Rock 13. But yes, i do agree these elite athletes are promoting a less-meat diet.
@@collude92 Yeah of course, there are often complications with strict plant-based or vegan diets. Being flexible is important when food availability is different also to mitigate excess stress around food choices in social situations. Especially when these guys have to maintain athletic performance, might not always have access to adequate vegetarian foods.
As an Indonesian I'm flattered seeing how Adam appreciate the unique flavor of our food, he also now set my goal to send 9A... I need more nasi goreng now
@@mathewjardini315 dude there’s some pretty good boulders where I live on a famous beach and tourists literally stuff shit covered toilet paper in some of the holds on the V0-V1 climbs. There’s a public bathroom like 200 feet away that works perfectly fine.
In my opinion a 7c on rock is easier than a 7c in the gym, also the competition finals (that adam do, for example world championship) are around 8b i think
Hi Adam. You mentioned your spicies for 7a,9a,9b in the video, since spices are so helpful, could you please recommend some other spices in your diet? thx a lot
They were all spice blends so ingredients can vary: 7c ¨Himalayan salt with spices¨ salt with pepper, chili powder and maybe lemon 9a Indonesian ¨Nasi Goreng spice mixture¨ cayenne, chili powder, ginger, galangal, salt, garlic 9b ¨Curry Powder¨ coriander, cumin, turmeric, mustard, cinnamon...
Lol, I am not a climber, and I am sure this works for the purpose, but this is exactly the kind of cooking I try to avoid, it’s just kinda thrown together in a mash and relying on spice for it to even have a flavour. I go on extended hikes in the arctic for like a month or more at a time, living more or less off what I can catch spear-fishing. It’s very sparse and cooked with the limitations of a trangia stove, so it becomes all the more important for me to at least try cook things well, procedurally or the days just get lost in a haze pot stew mush for every meal. Meals that are good, and well cooked on top of serving the purpose of activcity just matter for morale, I find … :D
Seems the most elite rock climbers on planet Earth tend toward a whole-food, plant-based, vegan, or vegetarian diet. It's happening folks. Veganism will take over.
Adam is czech.. so am I.. in our cousine we call risotto (rizoto) rice that is mixed with vegetables or mushrooms or meat.. it is far from how you italians cook your risotto but that's how we do it and that's what rizoto means for Adam.. perhaps he shouldn't use the italian spelling..
