Heck i don‘t even care if i loose like 2-3K trash/h on remastered, i just cant stand looking at 2006 graphics all day, even though i get around 140fps while grinding on remastered 1440P native
Exactly, I get like 58 to 60 fps on remastered and dont care if I lose trash loot, the game on remastered looks so awesome so I rather play on my gameboy than play BDO on PS2 graphics 😂
I got this recommended at random. I didnt play for many years, but I just wanted to mention that echo walking on awk valk with uncapped framerate was the most busted thing of all time. That's the first thing I remember when I think of uncapped fps and bdo. I was almost 2x as fast when playing on full potato mode and unlocked vs good graphics. Good old times.
I think the issue for players like myself who play some of the older classes in the game is not the increase in fps speeding up attack speed, but the drops in fps (which BDO has tons of) slowing down attack speed to a point that makes it feel bad to grind on some classes when in lower fps spots like gyfins. From your video it definitely seems like it doesn't affect newer classes as much which is great to see though. :)
As a console player im super curious too, From my study watching PAWEL's videos playing awak nova on potato mode, he seems to pull numbers about 25-35% higher then the average console player, Which ofcause due to higher frame rates, I also notice pet pickup up behaviour does have its own latency, almost as if they visually move on host(ur monitor), but only pickup around half to 1 second later(depending on ur ping). So its as if the pets move to the loot drop but still needs a communication from Host to Server, and fps/performance is only about 20% where else the remaining 80% is dependant on ur Ping/internet speed.
As a long-time witch main I do notice a decent increase in "speed" when attacking if my FPS are higher and, and I think that is important to note, stable, at the very least when in awakening. It feels less so for succ, which is also a lot newer than witch awakening, so the "only old classes benefit from higher fps" theory may still apply here. I have not done any tests on it yet so I don't know if it just feels faster or actually is faster, but honestly this video kinda motivated me to test it and make a video about it.
Very interesting, yes i wonder about these things too, and it isn't really just standing still test either, a big part is environment, so the pop in as an example adding to it. number of players, numbers of mobs, yes ping, but then too PC set ups, just seem like too many variables, so this is a nice test. Though hard to use anyone else's data, so you can give personal results I guess, but yeah, always interested in the testing side, so thanks for the effort here.
I used to play tamer and it felt like it made a difference. Switched to awk witch and no, i cant really tell. I've never tested to so dont quote me but between the 2 classes it felt like the linking of skills were slightly faster. So high apm classes were more noticeable. Witch with long animation, not noticeable. Tamer with short animation, somewhat noticable. Either way, i wouldn't give up remaster for a small, possibly placebo speed buff.
Here's an idea: Do this again, but have someone watch you and use their point of view for the timing. In BDO your combat animations are client-side, to minimize how bad lag feels, but your damage output is server side. For example if you have a really bad connection you can use a skill and the damage output will take some time to actually happen. I'd be interested to know if more fps actually equals more real damage output, or just faster animations client-side.
As someone who upgraded my system from Ryzen 2600 + GTX1070 to an Intel 13600kf + 7800xt, the fps increase was definitely a huge help in combos. Its more fluid and faster in terms of execution which results to better responsiveness on my end.
As far as i know, the class where it's most noticeable is Warrior. Where u do like 30% more damage with higher framerate. Classes with longer/slower animations are usually the ones that barely benefit from it at all.
Imagine having 4090 and playing potato mode for 2k trash increase, heck i'm gonna buy costumes and sell them for my remastered taste compensation at the end of the week x)
it was always weird. it existed yes, but ive tried it for myself as well. and no difference, ever grinded sycraia on release so like 265AAP on Valk got to like 4k trash an hour. tried uncapped. my trash went up barely by like 100 trash if even, mightve just been a better hour. i didnt feel faster. my dmg didnt feel better. it ''felt'' smoother, thats it. in pvp i tried it too ofc. im usually capped at 100 fps cause of my monitor. no diff either. made it all the funnier when people thought i had 200+ fps and 20 more sheet ap than i actually had. Having consisent fps in pve and pvp is way better than just having 300 fps that fluctuate between 100 and 300
Games usually divide everything you do by DeltaTime so even if you have faster frame rate it's all scaled. If this isn't in the game at this point i would be surprised.
in my experiences, as long as you hit 90 fps your dps differences isnt really noticeable for almost all female class i played. the biggest issue was big dip in fps or even stutter.
There was this very old video of a warrior doing 1 skill. And he did more damage, not just faster. (the one with the ocean man playing in the background.)
I tested multiple hours at different spots and 100-120 fps ultra was consistently 5% less trash than uncapped 200-220 fps for me, on succ Guardian. I noticed ultra was also more stuttery during movement, so you lose some extra time with that as well.
Sorc does for sure benefit. I noticed it first in PvP. When I would play on remastered it would be hard for me to one combo, but then when i unlocked the fps it became really easy even though I did not feel like i was doing anything different.
Great Video! And correct me if im wrong but wouldnt it be relevant to see how the speed increase due to the framerate effects the grinding speed in a bigger timeframe? Im with you on the argument that it feels almost not worth sacrificing graphics for some negligible Combo Speed increase of 3% but it would be interesting to so how many combos you can effectivly do more due to that increase in speed in a 1 hour timeframe? The combo is never a standalone thing in bdo.
I remember back in the day (like several years ago), I've been testing this on my DK pvp against Valkyrie. My friend on Valk would win 90%+ when my graphics were high. He could barely touch me when I was uncapped. This was an absolute bs, I couldn't keep up with inputs considering how fast my DK was. Don't know if it's still a case, cause it made both of my friends drop the game, and I swapped to another class.
I think this mostly applies to classes that have shorter animations. Honestly, if someone wants to sweat and go potato mode and that makes them happy.... More power to them. Doesn't matter to me personally. I will continue to play Remastered. :)
Can u do a biragi den season grind with scholar? i saw your guardian season character video but i dont pull nosthing as much with scholar, talking like 10k trash loot lesh here with a bit better gear than yours ( a bit better crystals on season).
Higher fps used to be very important for classes like warrior awakening or any animation cancel heavy classes. Not as fps dependant these days but there is still a dps boost with high fps.
This is one of the things i used to hate the most, as a DK if i wanted to be optimal i would have to uncap my fps, and usually it was way faster i wouldn't be exagerating if i say it is 1.5 times faster on her. But with time i don't care anymore, 60 fps with nice graphics is way better, even if you lose a lot of trash down the road. Enjoy the game!
I play on remastered with an amd 7800x3d or whatever its called and a 4070ti on a 240 refresh rate oled 2k res monitor. Good refresh rate of 200 plus usually. The 3 percent matters in pvp not pve ya know.
I think input lag is the real reason. When I run monitor, input lag goes up as graphics go up. This shouldn't happen really these days, but it is a really old game.
its not to do with apm but skill hits. Its how bdo calculates multi hit dmg causing a slow down. Classes like ninja barely get a fps dps impact. Use gravedigger on a warrior on low fps and high fps and u see the difference.
Higher framerate only causes faster animations and therefore probably more damage overall. And we see thats just so little. But saying that FPS causes more damage output because it ups the dmg generally is straight up bullshit
for me anything under 5% is irrelevant but i onlt had the dk video to go with until now so i kept hearing the 10-25% faster which sounds huge kinda happy newer classes dont have this issue , i can be a happy 60fps pleb
1 - game is unplayable below 100fps 2- game is best above 200fps even if your monitor is only 144 of smth 3 - why would one check tempo on guardian.... idk man xd slowest class in the game, literally the class made for people playing on 60ish fps lol
Fps wonet pass monitor refresh if u are not on full screan and have vsync off in controll panel, u could have it pass it in borderless with an older nvidia driver, but not anymore if u are on 20 and above series
Input lag is really bad in this game. If it were a shooter, no one would play it . Even though I'm running 90fps in ultra graphics, input lag is still bad. Remastered seems to be the sweet spot with usable graphics . I can't play with any lower graphics, looks worse than a mobile game under remastered.
STOP Please STOP saying you getting better farm when you have more fps ! Its totaly wrong if you sayed that is that you dont understand what "Frames Per Second" means ! You getting better farm ONLY because your inputs became more close of the couldown of your skills. Wish mean you getting faster to execute your combos ! Because you have more fps you can see easily the end of the animation then is YOUR reaction time doing the speedness of your inputs. It's like driving a cars if you passe the stance to late you are not at your highest speed but if you passed it at the perfect timing at the end you will arrived earlier at your maximum speed
nah all things u say is true for another games, but not for BDO. this game engine somehow excells the speed of animations when fps of the game getting higher - it's well known fact for many years and especially usefull for fast classes
You dont know what youre talking about when it comes to BDO, that knowledge is applicable to most games but not all. Its why increasing fps in some games increases time. There used to be a print screen bug where if you held it down, slowing your frames to a single digit would extend your animation time, was super op with extending s and skills. PA has done their best on minimizing those on new classes. Warrior, ranger, etc animations do actually come out faster. This is very well known with older players, its why hardcore pvper go into runescape mode.
@@lincolnjohnson4428 Nah, I bought 750gs stroker for 150 usd. I can kill 95% of the people and call them bad because my gear is better and I have more fps. It's fine.
@@lincolnjohnson4428 xd sure, meanwhile I still clear arsha SE beach when Im bored and call everybody noob cuz they can't kill me on my 750gs dr ooker.
it was just a title xD according to the numbers the difference is barely there , 1-3% is nothing imo compared to how other classes behave but it was still an interesting idea to look into , still curious how some older classes scale and if with the same setup i can actually see those mythical 15-25% speed increases o-o
This thing is rather class dependent. I have done my own rough testing on this for Awk DK, and her animations below like 100 FPS feels horrible. It is also the reason why I upgraded my PC, so now i can grind at around 120~144 FPS on remastered.
On an optimized PC you shouldnt have issues if you are above 60FPS. Here are my tests, in seconds: REMASTERED (60-120FPS): 10.44s OPTIMIZED (400FPS): 10.37s
