Can we use this instrument to check the moisture content of oil ?? If first we develop caliberation line by adding 0.001 %, 0.002%, 0.003% etc water in oil and note voltage against each addition

Good question. Dielectric Property of Transformer oil is dependent of multiple factors, such as moisture content, oil temperature, oil degradation, and other impurities. Hence only BDV test alone does not define moisture content in oil. BDV signifies overall dielectric strength of oil.

On conducting bdvt test , the dielectric strength of oil was found to be 20kv at 2.5mm gap . Can u say why..???

Oil should be tested for any impurities or adulterations.

No. The tested oil gets affected. It's dielectric properties get affected.

It depends upon the application of oil. For transformer oil 57kV BDV is ok. Also 'standard' for the same must be referred before the decision. Thank you for the comment.
