Perfect representation of why not to brake in a turn. Your wheels only have so much traction available and you're using it all to turn. Try and brake and you're breaking that grip
Very small brake inputs can cause more weight at your front wheels and help you to rotate the car. But you should now what you are doing using this technique
bro facctss like i try not to care when i get tailgated but cant help speed up cuz what if the car in front of u breaks hard and u would need to break hard, the tailgater will prolly hit u. makes me nervous. pisses me off
This was asking for trouble. Plan ahead for the turns on slippery roads, take your foot off the gas well in advance and use the engine to slow you down, not the brakes. In any case, summer tyres in these conditions is a disaster. My first drive to Austrian Alps was on “All Season” tyres, it was snowing but everything was fine until I pulled into a lay-by which hadn’t been treated with salt/grit and had a layer of fresh snow; the car just slid across it but luckily stopped before I hit anything. I bought a set of winter tyres next day (Continental TS 850 Winter Contact) and the difference was incredible. They held the turns and stopped on slippery roads almost as if there was no snow or ice. Be careful about trusting “All Season” tyres, and if you do choose them, be sure that they have the snowflake symbol (mine just had the M+S symbol for mud & snow.) They’re better on snow/ice than summer tyres , but they are more appropriate for climates that see moderate snow in winter. In serious snow/ice like the Alps, they are no substitute for real winter tyres.
I would say this is lack of experience, the driver panicked as soon as he/she noticed a slight loss of grip and hit the brakes… rookie mistake actually
Always love when I check the rearview and there's a guy tailgating that's driving a big ass lifted F250 4x4 with a full winter setup 2 feet off my bumper.
Yeah tires make a huge difference. I bought a new Mazda AWD this year and I'm just getting ready to bring it in to have Bridgestone Blizzaks put on it.
@@MBisFrenchy My Mazda Dealer had a deal, buy three Bridgestone Blizzak ws90 tires and get one for $1 so I went with them. It cost me a total of $625 installed. I would have gone with the Michelin X Ice tires, but everywhere I checked it was going to cost me a lot more than the Blizzaks. I'm glad to have them on the car though as we are expecting a foot of snow overnight.
The filming vehicle is way too close! The gap is much less than a second, probably half a second. That gap should be 4-5 seconds in these conditions. The other driver had their own crash and they're at fault. However, I can't discount the possibility they felt pressure to go faster than they were comfortable with because of the tailgating.
@@ramezaziz2336 That's not how following distance works. It's for your own reaction time and braking. It's not about how quickly the vehicle in front will stop.
@@unsafevelocities5687 the gap between you and the vehicle infront of you is for your reaction time to what exactly, if not to the vehicle in front of you?
@@ramezaziz2336 Most of the time, you should be anticipating things ahead of the car in front or you've failed already. That aside, yes, if the car in front starts slowing suddenly the gap is for the distance _you_ cover before you react which, unprompted, is up to 1 second. The rest of the time is for managing how hard you can brake against the conditions and in relation to any vehicle behind. Your comment implied that if a vehicle can't stop quickly due to bad conditions you can go closer to it. That's insane!
The problem is that they breaked going around a corner which is a big no no. You’re supposed to slow down before entering a corner and then accelerate around it.
Everyone is hating on the car filming but he obviously is driving within his vehicles capabilities in this situation. The other car went off the road because they had tires that weren't meant for winter driving, the car filming on the other hand was able to get stopped safely and stay on the road at the same speed that the other car was going.
Best to slowly release your accelerator because you’re letting the car’s momentum ease into the turn while understeering. Once you’re out of the turn, then apply a little more gas to regain momentum. I’ve been doing this technique for years and on icy major highways. But yeah, never brake hard while you’re going on a turn. If you have to brake, just tap lightly to decrease the speed and let the momentum take over.
Классика жанра. Независимо от состояния дорожного покрытия при торможении в повороте транспортное средство (велосипед, автомобиль, грузовик, поезд, самолёт) начинает двигаться по вектору скорости, т.е. прямо. 😂😂😂😂😂
People talking about not braking, even if you don't brake with all season tires you'll end up sliding on ice. I have a honda fit and with winter tires I've never had any problems in snowy winters.
@@MrLaughinggrasssome people amaze me hoe they survive Society and tech today has adanced so good, people like these don't die and continue to reproduce :(
Holding the brake made it worse. Let go of the brake and turn but tap the brake every half second. The wheels need to roll if you want to turn. Don’t slam on the brakes
Abs and esc can not save your car when all your tires are slipping. Braking will throw the balance of your car causing a spinout or massive slippage even if you have winter tires or not. It does help but managing your driving skills is also a big factor. Braking when youre slipping is the worse thing you can do as you brake traction of your tires you can not steer. Your brakes are useless if you can not grip whatever surfaces you're trying to stop on. From experience of racing and drifting this is a perfect short explaining not to do and what will happen.
I think Imo the Driver of the Mercedes should have been more careful and aware of the Turn he was approaching. He should have applied the brakes slightly on the straight ways before getting into the turn.
Not paying attention caused this. The driver recognized the car approaching from the right to late, and didnt relize they were yielding to right a way traffic.
Don’t tailgate, this makes the driver ahead feel rushed. Quit trying to make people feel rushed when weather is bad and they’re driving slower. Some people can see danger and try to avoid it. This person was trying to pump the brakes so they knew about abs and here you are 5 feet behind him.
Don't break in a corner like that. I'm gonna assume he also pushed his clutch here, which shift the weight of the car. Not good to do when it's that slippery
Driver should’ve let the brakes go instead of riding the brakes!!! Just steer the car through!!! Tires won’t help a driver if the driver isn’t confident behind the wheels/understands their vehicle and thinks expensive winter tires will do miracles 😂
