I appreciate that for such a small channel, I get sent gear, and get sponsorship opportunities etc. I understand that a lot of other people might want to start a channel, or monetize or whatever. I get it.
But this isn't a gear review channel. This is my hobby. I make videos about whatever. That's why this channel is small, and will likely stay small. I'm not banging out flashy gear reviews day after day, and trying to sling you plugins.
I appreciate it, which is why I didn't go into more detail about the issues with this product. I might still make more content on it and show that it can be made useful. But I'm also not gonna waste hours of my time shooting stuff that I can't use.
I try to only mess around with gear and companies that interest me.
PS
If you want to support this channel, simply hit like, subscribe, and watch my videos all the way through.
PPS
I'm selling all of my gear (excluding this free drumset, of course). Contact me via the about page to inquire on a piece. Lowballs will be ridiculed publicly on my channel.
Thanks for subscribing :)

I understand you man. Theres too many guitars, drums, keyboards and studio gear already manufactured and still sounds good. Theres no need to buy new instruments unless it's something truly innovative. We're lucky to live in an era where a guitar can cost as much as one trip to the grocery store and sound like it's worth a few grand but it doesnt gain any value if guitars are being mass produced and flood the market to the point where no one really wants to use it, they just like the look of it on the wall. Consumerism is killing music.

To be a minimalist is maybe good, but in this life it is not bad to want tools to be creative, My late Grandma´used to say " To much or to little shame it all" What is meant by that, is universial balance, I feel that you are uncomfortable to get things sent to you by company´s and i don´t like it these day´s, for me the corporate world are a maschine to distract us from our own path and development, wich in my world is Spiritual enlightment,..we are here to have an experience,...but like wise i love my gear for one and only reason, and that is when i create tones i fly and ride on the frequencies and overtones of my real home wich is universe, Thanks dear Travis for shareing, Love cheers🥰💕🙏🙏🙏 BTW sorry for my bad english gramar 😄

What companies do is send free shit to influencers to get them to talk up their product. I follow a guy that basically said, “this is a sponsored review so take it with a grain of salt”. If I gotta say your product is great just because you send it to me to review then fuck it. I basically just buy gear and try it out, sell it on Reverb if it doesn’t work for me, I usually break even, so I get to try gear for “free” and if I feel like reviewing it, I’ll make an honest review. My goal is to give people the most honest opinion I can so they can make informed decisions if they want to buy something or not. I’d rather buy crap second hand or from Goodwill and see if it’s any good, especially old gear. I like brining things back to life. But I completely relate to where you’re coming from. I have a Tascam 388 in pieces on my basement floor that I don’t have time to work on. It just becomes a little ridiculous. I feel like all it does is take away time from actually making music. So I’m making some drastic changes for 2023 and shifting focus. Best of luck to you. You’re videos are great. The reason we tune in is because of you. You could make videos showing you eating a bowl of craft macaroni and cheese and we’d still tune in. It’s way more interesting to see you fix a crappy kick drum with duct tape and a throw pillow than it ever would be to watch you wax on and on about some shitty Donner drum kit. So don’t give up on making videos. Just don’t sell yourself short and be anyone’s puppet. Cheers.

@@travisraab Sorry, thought I had posted a reply about that, must not have hit the REPLY button! Anyway, I've always been into music, but got super heavy into it ten years ago (I just turned 52) and started to learn recording techniques, etc. So I released my first home studio album in late 2019. Then the pandemic hit. We moved and music sort of got waylaid. My album only made $10 in about a year and a half! So I figured I wasn't going to get anywhere trying to promote my music, so, "why not start a RU-vid channel". Right, prefect idea! So it'll be about a year ago in April I think that I started the channel, and I've got just under 500 subscribers. I enjoy making videos, I just don't have a ton of time. I have found that tutorial videos do much better than "reviews". Also in the past year I discovered Goodwill Auctions, and at first thought I'd make a few bucks flipping guitars and "reviewing" them...yeah right. So then I was flipping the Tascam mulit-track recorders, and that was doing pretty well, until about September, and the bottom of that market fell out. Plus, I got burned a few times because I over paid for equipment that simply didn't work and would require much more knowledge than I have to fix them (I'm no Calum Davidson after all!). So long story short (too late), I'm kind of burned out on the whole Gear Acquisition Syndrome...syndrome. I'm going to sell off the extra gear I don't need. Pretty much only need a good electric guitar and a decent acoustic, I'll keep my bass, and a couple of the best mics I have and thin the rest. PLUS...I recently bought an Apple Pencil for my iPad and I've been drawing again and starting to learn 3D modeling. My background is in art and filmmaking. I like what you said in your video about this being a hobby and you'd rather make videos about whatever you want to. I feel the same way, if I want to make a video about baking croissants today and a video about what are the best tools for your CNC machine for cutting through maple, then, that's what I want to do. I'm also toying with the idea of taking a year off (work, the internet, society, etc.) and build a Henry David Thoreau inspired cabin and journal my experience and focus on living creatively. I'm also most likely shooting a documentary next year about a friend who runs a successful recording studio out of his basement in...Bay City Michigan of all places. He's actually made a living out of it for the past 15 or so years. I've got more ideas than time in the day. But next year should be interesting.
