I've never watched a show before where every new character introduced felt like a potential queer love interest. A new character would appear onscreen and I think to myself "Are they pairing these two together?" and then another character would show up, and I'd go "No, wait, is it these two who the show wants me to ship?" Usually an ensemble show will have maybe one gay character and when another gay character is introduced I'd think "Well, I guess this is the endgame" because there just wasn't any other romantic options. In this show it feels like the opposite since there are so many potential queer relationships. It's such a nice change of pace!

Neil Gaiman DID work on it a little bit, he just wasn't running the show like he did with Good Omens. He wrote a few scenes/ was there for the writers/ directors to talk to.

The first meeting between Crystal and Niko felt so sapphic, i was convinced that they would be a thing. I was so sure

Originally the show wasn’t owned by Netflix and wasn’t going to be connected to Sandman explicitly. Then Netflix acquired it. Also Neil Gaiman wrote 3 scenes for this show, one of which is the scene with Death this episode (the scene also has a reference to the comic).

This show has no business being SO well casted. Everyone fits their roles perfectly.

It's good you're watching. Neil Gaiman recently said on Tumblr that Netflix looks at completion rates with renewals. _Sandman_ took several months to renew but was renewed at least partly because of its (approx.) 75% completion rate despite being a show that people were watching and then thinking about for a week before watching the next episode. I think he is involved in some capacity (maybe just that it's based on his work, though? not sure).

WOOOOOOOO Happy Anniversary!! 🎉🎉🎉 I was going to watch this after I finally finished Doom Patrol (while still running this in the background for netflix numbers) but I can't deny a milestone reaction. Very happy to as it turns out with how well-crafted and delightful this is, and how our current main characters seem to individually have a specially selected combination of character traits each designed to appeal to me specifically. "In this day and age, it is a wonderful change of pace to say that 'It could very well be canon!' We don't know! So many more things are canon these days." What an exhilarating time.
