In this video I share something I discovered a while ago....half links aren't always half links! This means you cn get micro adjustment on these watches!
Here is a link to the watch featured in this video.

WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use RU-vids lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and RU-vid deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

DEAR RU-vid AND VIEWERS!
The watches in this video are originals or homages. These are not fakes or counterfeit. They are perfectly legal and anyone who reports this channel to RU-vid for the promotion or selling of fake or counterfeit products is doing so knowing that this channel is not breaking any of the terms and conditions stipulated by RU-vid.
Any music used in this video is owned by RU-vid and I am also legally entitled to use it. The pictures are my own or I have obtained legally with permission for commercial use.
I have been careful with my use of any trade marked terms in this video relating to any other watches. None of the watches have other brands trademarked terms displayed on them. I have not breached any trademark laws.
Homage watches are legal as long as they do not carry the name or trademarked terms or names of the original maker which no watches in this video do.
Thank you for your support!
Gary

Thanks for pointing this out, yeas, the watch in the video is a Pitzmann, not a SELTEN…

Half links are almost always NOT half, for this exact reason EDIT: I should have said watches with 2 x 'half links' are almost always like this - watches with one half link, generally are exactly half.

Oh no!!! My watch is 2 1/3 mm too loose!!!!
@pzwolski
@pzwolski Год назад
I tend to wear loose bracelets, because my wrist enlarges as the day goes by. An OK size in the morning appears to be too tight in the evening and my skin sweats, etc, so it is not comfortable to wear exact fit bracelets.

I've got a couple of watches that have half / three quarter / one third or whatever, and these helped me to get a better fit. I'm looking forward to the Pitzmann full review. From what I've seen it's an excellent watch with a very nice bracelet and clasp combo.

The problem I have is that between warm and cool days, your veins expand and contract and can cause a cm or more variation. I'd rather have on the fly adjustment, followed by micro adjustment, followed by this messing with links.

I agree but also wouldn’t let it be the reason I didn’t purchase a particular watch; just not a deal-breaker for me personally.

Totally agree. Here in Queensland you go from being hot outside to cool inside (in air-con) for a good portion of the year, so on the fly adjustment is ideal. Still looking for a reasonably priced, THIN after market clasp with this feature.

Excellent video Gary, I recently bought a steinhart and they also have these half links on their bracelets

The the thing you have hopefully made many more people aware of is that half links are rarely actually half the size of a full link. Varies widely so maybe they should be called part links?

That's very well known. No news there. I never remove the small links and always play with micro-adjustment. And I do hate watches with less than 3 or 4 micro adjustment positions. 4 is ideal

@@ILikeWatches2 You can't be offended because I wrote that?? :-) I do apologize. Didn't know I should've done a survey. Maybe you can help me by sharing 😉 your methodology? Did you: Determine who (sample)? Determine the type of survey (mail, online, or in-person) Design the survey questions and layout. Which methodology? Who approved? How did you distribute the survey? Analyze the responses? Write up a survey report? 😂💄 Cheer up, friend. I've been in watches collection madness since 2009, I move in different parts of the planet and rub sholders with different people, it's normal to have different perception and factual info.

Hm...you always measured the outside of the pins. So you can not determine the hole spacing. You have to subtract twice 50% of the pin diameter; so ONE diameter per measurement. Sorry, I can't help but be a mechanic . Never mind! Nice and informatic video, thanks for that 👍

I said in the video I measure the centres…not the outside of the pins…not at any point in the video did the callipers measure the outside of the pins.

Don't have a lot of experience with half/shorter links....but can confirm by my own testing that 3mm is a very common micro-adjust length. This was all just in support of my quest to figure out "how much granularity of adjustment is good enough?" And 3mm will actually give a reasonable fit, for me. (Some finicky people might disagree....but we all know someone who simply can't be accommodated). 😁

This is very interesting video first time I’ve seen it covered,I don’t wear any of my collection of a bracelet due to my small wrist size most on nato some leather and others on shark mesh I tried to adjust my seamaster bracelet myself due to never finding it comfortable even after 20 years and still have it in a bag as it fell apart due to some very fiddly pins in bracelet! Got to find a decent jewellers to sort it out at some point great content Gary thanks for covering it

For sure, not many companies offering half links, when they are there, great.
@murph8411
@murph8411 Год назад
Personally I don’t measure links and just estimate how many, if any, I have to remove by looking at the size of the links and removing them. Very rarely do I need to have a second attempt at removing a large link and replacing it with a smaller of the like. Some, like the Christopher Ward I recently received don’t require any links to be removed at all and the clasp adjustment is enough alone.

I was left a cartier pasha in a friend's will,a new half link was over £200! I found an aftermarket bracelet that looks like the original for just £60
