Be Honest CHELSEA FANS - Conor Gallagher ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH 

Hello mate - Yes, I take your point that no 2 midfiled players play exactly the same role so direct comparisons are difficult. I also accept that Gallagher's return in terms of goals and assists is respectable, although another interesting stat is that Scott McTominay played well over 1000 minutes less than Gallagher but scored more goals (7). Bruno Fernandes passing, possession, goals and assist stats are also far superior to Gallaghers despite playing in a team that finished lower in the league than Chelsea. However, the fact remains that Gallagher lost possession for his team directly through taking bad touches more than twice as often as any of the other players I mentioned, and that is a stat that applies solely to the individual player, regardless of how well their team is performing. I used those players as a comparison as they are the kind of players that Chelsea's midfield players need to match if they are to make their team competitive at the elite level. In summary, my opinion is that Gallagher is a very good player but he's not an elite midfielder, and if Chelsea want to get back to competing for big titles then they are going to need midfielders of a higher quality. I know how hard it is to create content and you have my utmost respect for doing so! I’m merely hoping my comments will add a different perspective to your analysis. Whilst I take on board all you have said both in video and in your response, I still think it doesn’t take into account the role of the player in the team. Can you tell me what his role was? Bruno Fernandes is notorious for how bad he is in keeping possession. He gives the ball away so much and he is not a very good dribbler. Mctominay has played 1000 minutes less than Gallagher for a reason. He has also scored more for a reason. He essentially plays as a second striker for United. He’s a box crasher from midfield. He doesn’t do what is expected of typical midfielders, his role is to try to score. Fernandes is the primary creative outlet for United, so he will top those creative statistics a lot more, that’s his role. Gallagher is a ball winning midfielder who is aggressive. His best qualities come off ball. He has brilliant movement and understanding of space & he’s very good at associative play. For these reasons are why he will thrive at Atletico. He will be used correctly. Don’t fall for the trap of thinking a player is not at a certain level because of the spell he had at a club, as we’ve seen with Havertz, when a player is used in the right role in the right team, they come to life. If you look at the type of statistics a ball winning midfielder is supposed to top, you will find Gallagher is in and around the top percentile of performance for those statistics. Ancelotti once said Zidane changed the way he viewed football because he made him realise that sometimes you have to be flexible to accommodate a player. We saw Gallagher in the more progressive Viera system at palace and he thrived. That should show you Chelsea have used him incorrectly.
