Get rid of the axe and replace it with a saw, more water cleaning and carrying options. Drop the zippo too and just add a quality ferro rod, bic lighters would be better than a zippo, and no you're not going to find random fluid to put in the zippo in the woods. If you're going to keep the axe better add some trauma stuff in there since there is none, and no paracord is NOT sufficient in a pinch. Have purpose made gear to do the job, medical is FAR important than that axe....

These are good thoughts. Axe can definitely be replaced with a Silky (Outback is our favorite). First Aid is EXTREMELY important which is why we've included items in there dedicated to it. Taking your considerations and appreciate your knowledge!

@survivalgearbso8768 no problem and I love the outbacks too, but something to consider about the silkys is their durability. I would really recommend the new version of the Corona Razortooth saw that completely covers the teeth, I say the Razortooth because it's virtually indestructible like the Bahco Laplander just with less cost and still cuts like a Silky. Blade breakage would be a huge consideration in this scenario and going with a saw that's not easily broken by a beginner would be best, I see that you want to offer the best gear available and Silky's are definitely that lol, but the more durable models would probably be the better choice for harder use. Also if the axe is exchanged with a saw it should still leave enough money to add a few more trauma supplies, a CNOC water bag to fit the sawyer, or additional canteens and water tablets. I am by no means an "expert" and don't think that I am lol, I'm just looking at it from the perspective of a person that may not be as well versed in the wilderness as we might be. All great gear in there tho, and most of those items I have in my packs too lol. 👍

Please never underestimate the medical stuff, it doesn’t weight a lot, doesn’t take lot of space in the bag and can seriously save your life. A small folding saw coupled with a quality medium sized flat grind knife (esee 4 for example) would be at least 5 times lighter than that axe also more versatile. Zippo is for cool people who go on a 3 days hike once a year definitely not a survival item, a classic and an electric bic lighters with a good ferro rod are what could make you survive. The topic is survival, not a friendly hiking adventure so it will be easier to find bic lighters in abandoned areas than fuel for your zippo. Many things missing here maybe could be okay for a bug out bag (except the axe) but that’s scary for a survival bag… no sharpener, no tourniquet and trauma kit, no gloves, no talkie, no fishing kit, sewing kit, no easily flammable stuff to start a quick fire in wet conditions, no backup light, no whistle, no multitool, no tarp, no map… This is definitely not a SURVIVAL bag

"Your new Ultimate Survival Kit has a few comfort items as well. You'll find a handheld solar charger with a small backup flashlight feature. Very lightweight and can be carabinered onto your pack to charge while you're hiking. There's a small emergency fishing kit with a hand reel, some sinkers, hooks & lures. Basic first aid was certainly not overlooked - a small, waterproof plastic First Aid box carries a few essentials for run-of-the-mill bumps, cuts, and bruises." Black Beard Fire Starters are some of the best on the market and light in any condition. IT IS A SURVIVAL BAG 😉

@survivalgearbso8768 no I'm sorry it's a cool bug out bag for bushcrafters with its heavy axe, its scandi grind knife and its zippo but certainly not a survival bag.

For an experienced prepper or bushcrafter, yes. For the lesser experienced and trained, no. You are paying for the knowledge in the selection of goods. How many newbies know what a mora is? This pack would have actually saved me money when I started out and didn't know what I didn't know. Now, like you, I could do it for less but don't begrudge someone charging for hard-earned knowledge and experience.
