Good to see that Deftones are still being discovered and enjoyed by the younger generation. I always thought they were way more special than the 'Nu Metal' brush they got branded with.
She's got a great record collection. I was in High School in the 90's so it's flattering that someone as young as her seems to be immersed in the music from my youth. Her album was one of my favorites of 2020 and I can't wait to see what she does in the future.
She has a lot of influence from grunge and the rock bands of the late 80's and 90's and for a 45 years old like me it's not a bad thing. I like her songs, her style brings me back memories.
really amazing how Elliot Smith has become one of the most enduring artistic voices for generation after generation. Great songwriting and great melody always endures and this is coming from someone who was in the "jazz" world for a while (i love jazz but I took a roundabout path to song driven music). While I appreciate a ton of music, I have really come around to the singular power of a singer with a great melody and a few chords, something eternally powerful about that.
Agreed with everything you said, but elliott smith is far from just a "few chords" he was an absolute genius on the acoustic, don't be fooled by it's simplicity.
She has fantastic taste. I enjoyed most of those records in my younger days. I still think Pavement is perhaps the most underrated band ever. Oh yea and Trainspotting is my fav movie. Nice poster, Bea.
I am friends with her mom. She’s my next door neighbor in Iloilo City, Philippines. Good family friends. Bea’s mom listened to Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Metallica, the Smiths, the Cure, etc. We use to swap cassette tapes of our rock albums. We will see Bea in concert in Chicago on December. The Metro, the venue where Smashing Pumpkins made a name as a great alternative rock band. Parents are so proud their taste of music growing up in the Philippines transcends.
Perhaps they extended the series out of necessity rather than simply wanting to expand to personal collections. It's not as if Amoeba is open for business and they can easily do their normal "What's in My Bag" in the store these days.
@@skrem23 whether or not it still ended up this way and it should stay. Some of my personal collection would not be able to be found at Amoeba and I feel others have that same thing going on. Would love to see it
@@os7692 I completely agree. I think it's cool they are showing off albums from their collections, and keeping this series going right now while things are shutdown. But the original purpose of the series, obviously, is to promote Amoeba Records, showing selections that these artists have picked up in the store.
You're Living All Over Me - There might be a rock'n'roll record that's just as good. But there's not a better one. Only the original though. No re-issue with extra tracks please. It needs to end how it ended on the half dozen cassettes I wore out back in the day.
Amazing taste overall. No idea why she thinks she'd get shit for the Blue Album though, it's literally one of the most revered indie/alternative rock albums ever.

@@jessop- indeed! and Texas Never Whispers...that intro and that guitar at the end. That ep and also Come on pilgrim by Pixies. They represent what I was and what I became. What I am and what I will be, I guess.
Here's this girl I've never heard of in a teenager's room from the late 90's, pulling out of her bag one great record after another. Seriously, the 'grown up' musicians can learn from this.

@@nathanmindblog honestly with how little my parents care about music I am surprised that I didn't mess up so badly, music taste wise. But this sounds like a great start (as much as I dislike pearl jam :D).

I don’t get it, it’s like she’s combed the internet for anything 90’s. It’s just a really weird concept to me that she’s devoted herself to a religion of the 90’s
Know nothing about her or her music. Somewhat ashamed to say I just checked this video out cos she’s cute. But I definitely approve of Weezer & Pavement.
