Ah yes! Protecting those brain cells matters. I guess wearing shorts and flip-flops isn’t recommended either, though full leathers may be overkill.

Does this helmet have the MIPS "technology"?

Here is the answer they gave me: 1 - MIPS is the technology developed by MIPS company in Sweden, MIPS looks like a thin yellow Liner under the helmet padding, which help the cyclists to reduce the risk of rotational impact. 2 - NTA-8776 is a safety standard for speed e-bike helmets, which offer protection for speed up to 28mph. It offers greater impact absorption than regular CPSC bike helmets and additional coverage for the temples and rear of the head. 3 - Our helmet does not incorporate with the MIPS protection, it is a completely two different safety factors. 4 - For e-bike riders, if they ride at speed higher than 20mph wearing an CPSC helmet with MIPS, if they fall off their bike and hit their head, the EPS foam can get cracked easily, and their skull are exposure to damage. The CPSC helmet is tested at lower flat anvil and curbstone anvil drop speed than the NTA-8776 helmet. Even with MIPS, it only provides 10% increase in protection for rotational shear impact. For greater speed, NTA-8776 can replace the role of MIPS to withstand higher impact. However, for cyclists who usually maintain their speed at 15mph or lower, CPSC and CPSC+MIPS helmets are also a good choice.

The only time I get near 20mph on my ebike is when coasting downhill. I use an Abus Hyban 2.0, which is also not a MIPS helmet. It has a rigid plastic removable (via velcro) brim, which works nicely in keeping the sun off the top of the sunglasses. Light-weight, comfortable, and the part I like the most is it doesn't resemble a typical bike helmet. :)
