In this video I'm on a SW Washington beach and I describe how to find more gold and faster while prospecting a beach or location with massive amounts of black sand. Learn how to quickly sample black sand for gold with simple and cheap gold prospecting tools. After that I return home with a sample to run through the gold cube. Through this process we learn how many colors you might want to find in your test pan to find a spot worth mining. Did you like this video? Please thank me by liking this video and SUBSCRIBING. I plan on releasing more videos shortly. Thank you!

In a moment of sheer stupidity I once put like 5 grams of "fairy dust" into a crucible and tried to melt with a torch. I blew that shit all over the place the second the heat touched it. All over my face, hair, and clothes. I ended up with like a 1 gram button and a very valuable lesson. LOL

Noooo! That's horrible! Lol I hope you cleaned some of it up. I lost a gram or so in the dryer once. Left a glass vile in my jeans. Lol I tore that thing apart and vacuumed around where the dryer vent goes out. Lol I got most of it back.

Great video, looks like you did not do to bad. I myself look for 20-40 colors per pinch or spoon full. Dig down to the black sand till you hit the blondes, then take a test spoon full of black sand just above the blondes.. The bottom black sands are the best because of the beginning of the winter storms hitting the beach and brining up the good gold. The gold is so fine it will not naturally drop thru the black sands. You are looking for the time frame of when the big winter waves came crashing down on the beach. Hint Hint....dig 3 feet back from the beaches edge! Their are more tips but I will share just that one. Take care and good luck out there next time you go.

Thanks for the good advice. I have experienced the same on previous trips. I was hitting the beach quite a bit right after the camp ground loop was eroded. This trip I didn't really have time to dig around and test the bottom of the layers. It was kind of a rushed afternoon. I miss the half a gram plus buckets a few years ago.

It sure does. I was once told you should spend 1/3rd of your time testing for the best spot. You can run blind for hours and get a little gold. Or you can test for 1/3rd of the day and run 2/3rds of the day and get much better results. May not always be the case, but it's something to consider.

thanks for the great video! I noticed you used a fairly large shovel, and that leads to the question of how localized are the gold concentrations? How close together did you take samples? Would a smaller shovel be more efficient? Since you're limited to how many gallons of material you can take the size of shovel should not make that much difference. Also was that a saw tooth mat you were using in the final clean-up?
@prospectingforadventure
@prospectingforadventure 2 года назад
I definitely test in layers. That's why I use a flat shovel. When the black sand is on the surface I'll test every ten feet or so parallel to the shorline. After doing it a while you learn a trick or two. I would have made a longer video with more info, but I forgot my main camera at home. Lol

I was metal detecting this beach near my home for rings ,coins ,what ever. I actually got annoyed because i was constantly getting false signals. I would dig the spot and nothing would be there except a lot of black sand. After seeing a few of these beach sand gold finds I am wondering if that beach is loaded with fine gold particles and thats whats causing all these signals with no results. Seems every time i would dig a signal it would dissapear some times i would find black rocks that would set off the detector. Now I am thinking whats going on is the gold particles from being washed back and forth by the waves are settling or concentrating in layers thus why my detrctor goes off and when i dig the signal it dissapears because then its no longer concetrated in that spot. Now I am kind of excited to get a pan and a small power sluce and give it a shot. I actually gave up metal detecting on this beach because i got annoyed with all the falsing i was getting. Now i look back and think holy crap.

Not at this location. The gold is too small for a detector. You might find a lost gold ring.

WHEN YOU FIND GOOD BLACK SAND A GOOD TEST THRUST A CLAM GUN AS DEEP AS POSSIBLE AND RUN THAT THROUGH THE GOLD CUBE SEE IF THERE'S ANY EXTRA YIELD. .
@prospectingforadventure
@prospectingforadventure 2 года назад
Good tip, but I try to find surface concentrations. It's easier to Shovel. If the blonde sand is on top the clam gun works great tracking down the black sand. Or if the surface sand had very little gold.

Too small of a sample size to determine where to dig. I do a minimum of 5 pans at each spot. Still like your videos.
@prospectingforadventure
@prospectingforadventure 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! Do you mean a table spoon is too small of a sample? It's nearly impossible to get an accurate color count out of a full pan of black sand. You end up panning gold out. When I have a good small sample I try to recreate my test results multiple times before digging. This has been a good method to test a larger area in less time. This method also helps me target thin layers within the black sand.

Hey i love the idea of getting gold off the beaches, but I'm wondering what your doing with the sand your taking off the beach. There's lots of micro organisms in that sand. If everybody goes down and takes a bucket of sand off the beack everyday we're going to destrow the ecology of the beaches. I'm not a tree hugger by any means, but having grown up in puget sound and seeing our beaches dieing bugs the shit out of me Do you all know what keeps the sand on the beach from turning into a quick sand type mud. Micro Organisms!! Anyway, just be mindfulll of that. Is there a reason you can't do the majority of panning on the beach and then take the fines home to seperate?
@prospectingforadventure
@prospectingforadventure 2 года назад
I appreciate your concern and input, I'm not out there to leave any permanent marks on the environment. Up until about a year ago we were allowed to recirculate seawater in a tub with an electric pump. That's been taken away along with many other reasonable regulations. We're still allowed to take home 10 gallons of sand. I think there's a lot of misinformation out there regarding the harm of these activities.
@waynejones8481
@waynejones8481 2 года назад
@@prospectingforadventure well all and all, I'd rather see someone recirculate the sea water by slucing out your sand right there on the beach. But I guess that makes to much sense. They would rather see you take sand away. Slucing (probably not spelling that right, huh?) On the beach means your not taking anything away but what gold you might find. Anyway, good luck on the gold dude!

You'd have to check restrictions. Not sure who owns that land there. If say go for it if it's legal to work and there's black sand.
