The first time I heard Beach House in 2010 my mind was absolutely blown. It hasn't happened since and it may never happen again. It's very different, but the closest I've come to having a group create that for me more recently is Stimming X Lambert's Edelweiss.
crazyaboutnature Just wish they hadn’t cut the guitar solo part (starting at 3:32) short, presumably due to late night show time constraints. It’s the best part and the payoff of the song.
Rare band that sounds better live. Her vocals are astonishing in person. It's goosebumps shit for realz. I remember seeing them in Chicago and just thinking, "This can't be real." She's so much more talented than she probably gets credit for.
First song I heard from them was Norway, which they played every day at my old job. I genuinely thought it was a guy singing for the entire year I worked there until I just recently started listening to their music by chance lol
Best show I've been to in my life was Beach House playing live at Jacksonville beach. One of the happiest moments of my life, right next to taking a massive steaming dump after being constipated for two weeks straight.
Letterman led the way when it came to musical guests back then. I remember seeing Interpol, sonic youth, Mars Volta, at the drive in, so many more amazing bands that were kinda popular but still also subculture at the time. He has a very different music team than the other shows.
I first heard this song in October 2014, my friends at the time and I were hotboxing the car and were on the way to watch a lunar eclipse at the beach. I was already pretty blitzed when it came on, and I felt this rush of intense deep emotion and energy running through my body. I asked my friend who this band was because I'd never heard anything like it before. It's now about 8 years later and I'm in such a different place now than I was back then, and I still experience the same rush of emotions anytime I listen to Beach House, and especially this song. I'll never get tired of listening to this.
I honestly don't think a band can move me more than Beach House. The instuments together are beautiful, the guitar solos by Alex are brilliant and Victoria's vocals are like an angel. They are incredible.
I'd put her in the category of Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Joni Mitchell, as far as a unique sound to her voice and delivery of that sound. Her delivery is what is so truly unique. It just captures the listener and they aren't sure if that voice is really coming from that young woman. Her demeanor and appearance don't indicate that her voice would be what it is.
Bloom and Depression Cherry are magnificent albums. I love this song. Seen them live at a festival in Sydney around 2015. Small area, but my goodness they were farking fire.
Beach House has a way of transporting me to a calm state of introspection. I contemplate how meaningful the decisions I make on a daily basis are. Usually, I determine I could do better.
The feedback is so aggravating to hear on a next to flawless performance of a flawless song. You'd think Letterman would have world class sound engineers at his disposal, but I guess they were all on vacation this night.
This band's singer is far more talented imo, than all the reigning, chart topping pop music queens. Name any one of them. They all pale next to Victoria & Alex's band, to my ears. Along with her talented partner's writing talents & unique guitar sound, Victoria has a rare talent, imo, for writing & delivering emotive vocal melodies such that zillion-selling Rhianna & her posse of song writers on the payroll don't come close to pulling off. Same with Adele, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lorde. etcetera. None of them resonate with me the way Beach House and a few other bands (e.g. Mazzy Star, Dum Dum Girls) do. I say: Forget the pop music "Queens"... Btw, how come a nice & talented French girl like Victoria ended up with the first name of a stuffy, old British Queen from a repressive era?? Forget the Queens...God save Victoria Legrand!
It utterly boggles my mind why people have to be such A-holes. Why can't someone make a comment without someone coming behind them and being a dick? Grow up.
This melody; this band takes me back to one of the happiest most sexiest moments of my life so far... This song 🎶 is full of euphoria and sensuality. Every time I hear it; I can still see her, feel her, hear her, taste her. She was so beautiful. Victoria Legrand’s voice along with ‘Beach House’ Is a gem. Thank you for posting this.
This has always been my favorite song ever, I had goosebumps when I first listened to it, and now I'm listening to this song after so long not listening to it, I got goosebumps again
Just another gem from this band. Dig finding more about them. Why don't I hear this good kind of music on the radio? Mostly garbage is played these days. The world needs great music, not discordant noise.
Oh god. Another one of those lazy people who don't understand that you need to go find music that fits you. Not be a lazy ass and just swallow what the radio spews out
I always loved this song but never saw it played live, this auto-played and I'm so thankful for it. Never knew she also played the piano parts too, really cool, impressive. Her level of flow and being able to tune right in is 2nd to none.
Whenever I really love a music artist, I'm always worried that they won't be as good live as they are on their albums... But I'm pretty sure Beach House is a million times better live. They always make such beautiful music no matter what.
i saw them live with vampire weekend ... i went to see vampire weekend but they opened .. i was floored by beach house. its the only band i can say are actually better live. her voice was so clear and loud in the best way. it felt like the air was vibrating with her voice. amazing . i liked them better than the main event. you FEEL her voice from your ears to your fingernails
