Great Video. You probably have the most informative and useful channel on RU-vid. I Love Tony's channel for info on the Excaliber 2, but giving useful info on the Explorer, up thru the Excaliber, to the CTX shows your many years of experience, and expertise with the Minelab detectors. You flat tell it like it is, no holds barred, about various problems, and advantages of each machine. Thanks for taking the time to share all this info with us. Could very well save a lot of us from spending a lot of money having to repair or replace parts on our machines. GL& HH

what i love about minelab excalibur is the auto ground balance. in mineralized sand, i found it really hard to balance but the auto ground on the excalibur 2 takes care of it

YES!!! Someone else who thinks the skid plates are junk!! Come on Minelab! Lift your game! I found that silicone tape works really well on the skid plates and lasts longer than insulation tape. Thanks for the video. Subbed.

I love my Excal 2. I'm in the UK and Tony sent me one of his PP switches which I fitted. Good video. Thanks for sharing.

Did you say "a good-eye deer"?? I enjoy the hell out of your New English accent but that aside video takes the cake! Hands down, the most informative and honest take on these Minelab machines as far as tips n' tricks and idiosyncracies of each of them. Thank you for your service and happy hunting from a new subscriber in Florida.

Good Tip to keep black sand and water out of CTX coil cover forever just outline the inside of the coil cover with silicon and there you have no falsing voila!

Cool information... have you maybe done an update so a novice can be pointed in the right direction first time? Seems the Equinox 800 is the way to go these days? Have you used Multi-IQ yet? Thanks for all your great info!

I think the garrett sea hunter is the best bang for your buck, pi machine with dis for about 650ish, just my opinion, can get a bigger coil for it too!

Excellent review, thought about getting a CTX 3030 but for the price and how fragile it is I decided against it. My Excal is modified with PP and Gray Ghosts, Carbon straight shaft and it is my go to beach hunting machine, the only other machine I have that will "Out Depth" my Excal is my TDI Pro, it is an animal but my Excal has found me more gold and silver, I will never be without the Excal, thanks for sharing.

heard good things about the TDI and it being a pulse you cant go wrong with it at the beach!! GL&HH!!

Awesome!! I really want an excalibur. But I've been considering an explorer because its cheaper. Is the explorer xs better than any other minelab explorer? They are hard to find.

Have watched many of your videos over and over and was thrilled to see this one! I'm planning my bucket list road trip with my final stop being in FL. I started out liking the AT Pro because of the land/water use, but have been looking for a ML XS. Found a SE; do you have any insights to this unit?
@NHbeachmetaldetecting
@NHbeachmetaldetecting 7 лет назад
great unit the originals with stock coils had some issues with falsing back in the day but its a excellent machine!! on ocean beaches you will find 3 to 4 times the finds than you would with a garrett at pro!! GL&HH

New to this hobby but understand the falsing back. Anything I can do to reduce or eliminate this with the original coil (until I can afford a Coiltek)?
@NHbeachmetaldetecting
@NHbeachmetaldetecting 7 лет назад
well i would just make sure the coil works good that comes with the SE there was a small amount of coils that were manufactored that were defective from the factory i would run in auto sensitivity that works great on the beach!! GL&hh

How do you like the 17" coil for the CTX? My ctx coil turns to the right and i have to keep unlatching the lock on the shaft, spin the coil back straight and hunt again... It is annoying... I know this is an old video but i am buying a coil and was trying to decide on 6" or 17"... Also one question.... Can you submerge the battery and all with just the land headphones? I have water proof but the cord keeps going bad and i am spending a ton on headphones. I see the one you got but can it be submerged and just keep the headphones themselves out of the water and dry? That is a lot lol I know...

Thank you for all the videos you've made. I've watched them for dozens of hours because I'm trying to learn your techniques for detecting wet, mineralized saltwater sand beaches down here in RI. I know you really like your Minelab Explorer XS. Do you know if other Minelabs in the Explorer series (like the SE PRO & SE) work in the mineralized salt water sand too? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

You are really in to the Minelabs and I do think they are great machines based on what I have read. Just curious though, you claim these are the bests but what other equivalent priced and aged machines have you truly learned to compare them too ? Its a rhetorical question and the reason I ask is I would expand out to another brand for the sake of perspective, and for being a better skilled hunter. Good luck and happy hunting.

I've been debating maybe trading in my Dual Field and Deus and getting myself a CTX 3030. I really enjoy land hunting but I have really gotten into water/beach detecting. From what I see in videos it looks like the 3030 is the best machine overall for both. One thing I can't understand at all is the 3030 detection screen! I have been watching videos, but it just doesn't make any sense to me, but people say its easy machine to use. I don't understand the little target that jumps around on the screen or how you can see two targets at once, or how where the little target icon is on the screen can tell you if its a good target or not. Does it have a steep learning curve?
@NHbeachmetaldetecting
@NHbeachmetaldetecting 7 лет назад
there is a learning curve but not a big one!! the guys using minelabs at the beach always bring home the good stuff!! you will never see me on a saltwater beach without a minelab!!!

what is the difference from minelabs Equinox -800 (e-800) and the CTX 3030 which is better and why
@TheMadFlasher

I've noticed with my CTX with the coil cover on, as soon as a little sand and salt water get in there it falses pretty bad on the end-swing. The only thing I've found to do is lift my coil up and drain the water! Otherwise a great machine so far!
@NHbeachmetaldetecting
@NHbeachmetaldetecting 7 лет назад
1} check connection 2}check sensitivity if you manually changed it turn it down} a good coil set up right should not false
@NHbeachmetaldetecting

also you may want to select seawater mode if your in the water with it! GL&HH

Can someone tell me, when they find a ring like the ones in the beginning of the video, do they keep the rings? Sell em? Do they get quotes on the price if the ring etc? Also what do those rings value at?

G'day, I'm in the market for a new detector for the beach (waterproof) and as you seem to know a lot about detectors, I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I'm looking at spending about $850 to $900. What's your thought? RJ

you are probably asked this a lot, but what are your settings for the ctx3030? I live in Ct and hit a beach used by over 2 mil people over the season. I would detect and area 20ft by 200yrds and barely find a signal.
