We have about 6 detectors and about 6 pin pointers... We definitely have plans to expand so at some point we can show the collection in a cool way.

Thanks Nora. I feel much better now, actually. The little crabs were scared and sad... I'm glad we were able to help them and clean the beach up as best as we could.

I definitely had some close calls. Just kidding! The food didn’t sit well, but I powered through.

I know, but that beach is hit so hard constantly. We have found so many screws, nails and bolts... It's maddening...

I'm not a quick learner on things, so its been a bit of a learning curve for me. I favor the Vanquish for sure... I would need to give the Apex a little more time to get used to it.

Hahahaha. Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. We're so glad that we were able to pick up trash, I wish we would have been able to pick up more. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever not have trash to find.

Of the brands that we have tried, we definitely prefer Minelab. In general though, in regards to detectors, you get what you pay for. You don't need to go out and buy the Minelab 3030, because frankly the Equinox will do the job just as well. And if you're new to the hobby, you're probably better off buying the Vanquish 540, because it's a good starter machine. In regards to coil size, ironically enough size does matter. A 6" coil is handy at a tot=lot to get around the toys and cutting in tight, however, would not be practical if you took it with you to the beach. That would be one of those instances where swapping out the coil for the larger one would make more sense to cover more area. The other variable in all this is if you're looking for a waterproof machine. @@christinethestringbean Thank you for your answers, Christine. I kind of figured that the bigger coils are better at the beach, because there is a lot more ground to cover. Whereas the tot lot can get crowded. I don't have an expensive detector, but it has a waterproof head, not the controls. But, I don't scuba dive. I am not walking into the surf that deep, either. The sand scoop that you all use costs more than the detector. I bought a regular shovel at Harbor Freight that works just fine. No shaker feature, but that looks tiresome anyway. I do have a knock off pin pointer. Again, not premium. Good luck, hunting.
