I love this mall even thought there has been very sketchy stuff here before. I think the future of this mall will be the mall itself growing cuz it has been doing great for years - very little stores have closed
That's the same mall where Cecelia confit filmed possibly in Michigan (1983) she got permission from the The owner of the mall he said to Cecelia at you could Half 20 minutes before they open 10 o’clock and she did.
My grandparents lived not far from the mall so we went most saturdays. I had a cousin my age who lived with them so I spent a lot of time in the area growing up. This was the early 80's. The mall used to have a glass elevator by the big clock. The mall was always crowded with high school kids. When I was in high school we went all the time and it was fun during the holidays. I moved to Phoenix 20 years ago so it's interesting to see the mall now. It looks the same. Those are the same upper balconies , benches, and the trees were always there and the fountains. I am not sure how to word this without sounding bad, but, you mentioned gang activity and crime. The mall was not like that in the 80's and 90's. It was upper scale. It was a lot of rich white people or well off white people .It was very safe and felt safe. I see by the video the demographic has changed.
I recently watched a surreal horror short film from 1983 called Possibly in Michigan. Part of it was filmed in this mall and you can see what it looked like back in the 80's. Its pretty weird and disturbing, I don't know if you're into that kinda stuff, but if you are I recommend checking it out
10:53 , that shuttered store on the left used to be a Microsoft store that shut down in 2020 due to covid. They used to have a big ass screen in the hallway in front of their store where they would do VR demos too.
Great tour seems like this mall is doing well.I wonder why in some areas malls do well and some area they don’t. This mall is really nice and well put together never would’ve thought this building was 44 years old wow.
A lot of malls are disregarding the older/aging population dynamic/demographic by way of not having comfortable seating for tired/achy feet and knee's seniors, who I would argue actually have the most disposable income. This reflects carelessness and incompetence on the part of management who I would also argue needs to be fired immediately, no if's, and's or buts and no questions asked.
You peruse all these malls, WTF is the difference between a Nordstrom and a Dillard's? Our mall is being given life support by Dillard's, leasing the Macy's (formerly Burdines) anchor store as the Ladies' version. And what little I see of Nordstrom only makes me think they're siblings separated at birth.
