Hello all! In this video I am sharing a beaded tapestry that I made to go on the front of my gypsy book. (A book I haven't made yet.) I took a famous painting of a gypsy and ran it through my mother-in-law's beading software and it gave me a pattern! Also, I'm sharing a few of the antique photos I picked up at the antique mall last weekend.
And . . . I've been batting around the idea of designing my own digi-kits and was curious what your thoughts on that were. Is the market too saturated? Is it too expensive to start up and not enough return? I've been trying to come up with a way to replace my part-time income from the library because I've got some pretty serious joint issues in my ankles and I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to do all of that standing. Was just curious if the online digi kits would be a viable choice. Let me know your thoughts and any helpful hints you may have on the subject. Or even if there is somebody in the business already that would maybe be willing to talk with me about it? Thanks!

Хобби

Thank you! I was just wondering if it would be worth the time to learn it and the money to invest in the equipment, you know? Thank you for your input.

@@sparrowhawkerdesigns I've never tried it. I don't know if creating digis is in my wheelhouse. 😝 You have great design sense so I can see you suceeding at it. I don't know how much it all costs. I guess its something to think about.🤔

I love old photos too. The little girl is sweet and I love anything to do with social history. Love the peyote beadwork, so enjoyable to do but very time consuming when you have lots of different shades of bead to work with. Great results though. Ive got some to do but it is daunting just thinking about it. Have you noticed that silver and gold beads fade and lose their colour quickly? Also I did a beaded ornament with silver lined twisted bugles and the silver inside turned black and spoilt the whole thing. All that work!!!! So don't use them! Not sure about jj kits, as you say when a thing becomes popular it soon floods the market and then you have to come up with something original to get moving again. So many crafters out there who are inventive and creative and you are one of them, so anything you do will turn out well Im sure. tfs x

Oh my gosh, Mary, I learned the hard way on those beads that fade!!!! I spent, literally, 2 months making this amazing odd-count peyote face of a goddess and then noticed about 2 years later that it looked like she had chicken pox!!! I could NOT believe my eyes! I cried. Just literally sat down and cried. I have never used the silver lined beads, but thank you for the heads up, I will avoid them at all cost!!! Yes, my major in college was history. If it's prior to 1945 I'm fascinated with it, but especially 1880-1930. Take care sweetie! Thank you so much for commenting. XX

I'd like to do digital kits too, is it too hard for an older person to do? Your pics and beadwork and such fun to see. I love old pics!

Thank you. I have loved old photographs since I was a kid. I would just imagine "life stories" for the people in the photographs. I don't think the digital kits are physically difficult to make, you just need to purchase photoshop, a good computer and a decent scanner . . . and then learn how to do it. There are plenty of online videos and books you can get from the library on how to do it, I was just unsure if it would be worth it or not. Like, if the market is just too saturated or not. Thank you for commenting. It means a lot. XX
