This brings back so many memories of when 909jr was a spring cub right there on the bank of the river with her mom. 909 was such a nervous and aggressive mom. She left her cub on the bank while repeatedly and fruitlessly throwing herself into the water at the sight of a fish. And junior sat by the edge of the water idly playing with stones and nervously glancing around. But junior was a feisty cub from the start. She chased grown bears away from her mom whenever 909 caught a fish that they might share. And she was fearless when she joined her mom up on the falls to fish even in the face on the infamous Grazer and her two very aggressive cubs. That first year, 910 tried to hang out with her sister but 909 rebuffed her repeatedly. It wasn't until the next year when 910 had her own cub that 909 allowed her to come close and they began to travel and play together. 910 is an exceptionally tolerant female to have adopted 909jr last year and to allow her to remain with her this year. I was surprised to see here that she still allows 909jr even to snuggle up to her while they are resting. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this unconventional and delightful family.
