working with glass is much harder than metals all metals would have AND did rust away but NOT stone = glass

except gold. which is why gold took over, even as dust, it can be brought back into solid form, and will not come apart unless you want it to. beads are very close though there is no limit to the source.

anyway,. no matter. by 700 BC COIN WAS INVENTED & SOON TOOK GROUND & came to common usage.esp in Greece & Asia Minor.. eg. the Phoenicians. who also mostly bartered with their goods. they got tin from British isles.. gold from Africa as they brought them olive oil wine pottery cloth etc.

that historian SAbatino MOSCATI you're quoting from. wrote his book.. THE PHOENICIANS. THE HISTORY OF THE ANCIENT NEAR EAST. nothing to do with SE Asia.. so you're misinterpreting his work.

beads frist came SE Asia from INDIA. specifically the TAMILS from 200 BC.. 1200 AD.. Philippines was not part of this

@@sabinas.6965 vitro is the Latin name for glass because that is the singhalese name for "Vi" -Paddy "tro" husk. Glass was was exported from Sri Lanka to East of Africa . Then glass was used by the Egyptians,Chinese and other nationalities by melting/mixing etc.
