Thank You Jill, for making it possible for our old age beginners to have fun, because of your teachings

I do adore Russian Spiral stitch, Jill! And you're such an excellent teacher. I first learned the art of bead-weaving with you many years ago by teaching myself from your invaluable books! But here's a tip for anyone who's interested - whenever I've not had enough Crystals for a project, I've often used Miyuki 6/0's in similar colours and finish in place of the Crystals - and they've turned out beautifully. It also beads up nicely with Bugle Beads in place of the Crystals and 11/0 seed beads for a lovely triangular result. And a finer result is achieved by replacing the crystals with size 6/0's and using size 15/0 seed beads in between - this variation makes a particularly lovely necklace. In fact my favourite combination for a necklace is Miyuki 6/0 and 15/0 Seed Beads, both in the 'Yellow Gold' coloured Permanent Galvanised finish - I often wear it with or without an Onyx Cabochon that I beaded in the same colour Seed Beads .. It's so versatile! But you can use any uniform size beads that you like --- The sky is the limit if you just use your imagination! Happy Beading : )

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been trying to learn this for the past week watching countless of videos and i couldn't get it for the life of me. Then I stumbled onto your tutorial and by far, the most comprehensive, beginner friendly video out there. Again, thank you for showing the technique in simple, slow terms!❤

For those who ask "How many fire polished beads do I need?", I counted and found that it is about 30 FP per inch using 3mm FP and 11/0s. Using a single color of fire polished beads, four packages of 50 beads each was more than enough for my bracelet. For three colors of FP, you'll need about 10 of each color per inch. Your mileage may vary depending on your tension, but this should give you a rough estimate.
@Jumajaju811
@Jumajaju811 2 года назад
I know this was posted 3 years ago but I have a question about tension. I'm a moderate level beader but with this stitch my tension seems to be so loose no matter what I do. Should I try using monofilament thread instead of the braided thread?

Thank you Jill. I prefer your Russian Spiral tutorial over the many that I watched and am making some lovely bracelets with this stitch. You are a pleasure to learn from. Blessings

Aside from the wonderful teaching and gorgeous designs you offer, I really appreciated that you pointed out the importance of color juxtaposition in the first 2 minutes of the video. Once you pointed that out, it really made sense why the middle design "popped" -- even though the others were still very satisfying eye candy.

Finally a spiral that makes sense to me, just finished my first of many, now I feel confident enough to use the good crystal beads to make my next one, 😊

Thanks for the tip about using an 11/0 that contrasts well with all the fire polished or crystal colours. It makes a much nicer effect.

Fabulous teacher! Thank you, I am a beginner bead weaver, having only used the stringing method. Your videos have help greatly. I have viewed videos without sound, and while ok for very simple patterns or even experienced beaders, it was tedious for me. The difference is vocalizing when you make a turn, important information like the expected result. The step-ups, when to tighten, where likely mistakes may occur all make your videos an exemplar for beading videos. Thank you!

Beautiful! I love your exuberance. It's contagious. I just hope I can finally finish one of these bracelets. I've made several starts from other tutorials. Not that they were at fault---just my inexperience with tiny beads and thin beading thread! They take a lot more patience than the larger stone beads and wire I'm used to working with.

Rewatching again! Thank you so much for all you have taught me I was new to beading at the age of 50, looking for something to do during treatment for cancer. I survived - and so did the beads! I had wanted to thank you so much for your tutelage through the years, you've taught me right angle weave, and I do a great embellished version now, Russian leaves, spiral, etc! You have enabled me to become a more than adequate, more confident beader, always looking for the sticky-outie, and new thread paths! Kinda like life, actually. Writing today to ask you is there is any way to share the fire polish colors shades of blue used in this tutorial? Think they'd make a great base for tubular netting and a pendant I have in mind. Stay cool, woman!

Question: Are collapsible beading needles a good substitute for all beading projects? If not, which bead weaving stitches are most amenable for the collapsible needle? I use the collapsible beading needles, as I CANNOT thread regular beading needles. I have a tremor in my dominate hand, so the larger eye is easier for me. In addition, I like how the needle holds the thread. In my short time with weaving, I have not had an occasion where a collapsible needle does not work. Yet, because of the time involved for weaving, I rather not start a project only to find out...OOPS! I find the hobby relaxing and oddly therapeutic for my hand , so I continue trying. I started stringing beads in 1996 and self taught (read a lot of beading books with great illustrations), so it is so nice to have RU-vid videos as an augment. With your videos, I can start right in watching the video. Appreciate your teaching style.
