BeamNG Drive Multiplayer - Demo Derby Tournament Part 1 

So this was not at all the video that was supposed to go out today, however the planned one is stuck processing after 4 attempts at uploading it, so i guess this is being released now

I assume the reason the radiator wasn’t working round one was because you drove in reverse. There is limited air flow causing it to overheat.

Engine: revs in reverse at 4.5k Alex: my engine is starting to overheat but my radiator is fine what’s going on?

The reason you overheated without a broken radiator is because the game also uses air flow calculations to demonstrate airflow through the radiator, meaning if you rev high when stopped, you’ll overheat with a radiator, if you go reverse, you’ll overheat slower, if you drive forward, you aren’t guaranteed to overheat in the next 10 minutes. This is another reason Beam NG is still considered ahead of it’s time

"I'm not allowed to throw things at people." Why not!? That sounds like an amazing role in a demo derby! Pile a bunch of rocks or something at the side and have one player throwing them in!

Beam MP would be great for driven til destruction “races”. Could be first to a set number or laps or just whoever lasts the longest!

The Grand Marshall had 1 wheel steering the entire race and i don't know if that actually hindered me

this was brilliant fun to film, although a decent part of my time was spent around 15fps :/ even so, my perspective will be up after part 2 of alex's

You cooked the engine because of high RPM in reverse. So there was minimal airflow to cool it .

The mattress physics are pretty impressive. It actually compresses when you drive over it.

Sometimes it's really funny when Alex doesn't understand the solution to his problems, but other times it's really irritating... This time it was irritating. Car overheated cause you kept going in reverse, so there's zero airflow through the radiator.

This is a fun watch.

I wonder if you were overheating because driving in reverse the air isn’t blowing over the radiator Edit: seeing the other hundred comments that pointed this out it’s apparent Alex is the only one who doesn’t know how cars work…

I'd wager that going in reverse doesn't push air through your radiator, and there's only so much the ventillator can do?

Front-wheel drive is so much better in BeamNG, because the car literally pulls you away from any sticky situations, instead of spinning out.

You have to be moving forwards to get air flow to the radiator. Unless you lost your water pump.

I love BeamMP! I Swear that some day in the future this game will become a go to racing-physics simulator that is known to the levels of the Forza series.

most demo cars run no water, its a safety thing. when you t-bone a guy and the rad explodes, boiling hot water lands on a person, its pretty horrific. I saw it happen at an SCCA race once, knarly. bomber cars and demo cars only need to last like 10 minutes tops, and most cars can handle that with minimal to no water.

Guys, you could start BeamNG racing, like GTA 5 perhaps. Would be awesome since it is a proper simulation in driving and physics/damage. By the way, turn of your engine when upside down :)

I am not sure you're aware of this FailRace.. I have watched quite a few of your videos (great videos), but you can increase the strength of the node grapper to pull out stuck parts. I know there's a chance of damage, but you attempted it quite a few times with that blue piece, without increasing the node grapper strength. You use the scroll wheel while holding the node to increase the strength. Just thought I would let you know. :)

You could use the thing you use to remove the debris to flip you car right side up

I think the bumper part is stuck in the first round because you're trying to get it in the wrong direction, and on the wrong side.

This is the first time I've watched a fail race video and got frustrated with Alex, you need to have airflow should've just drove round forward for a while to reduce temperature, otherwise good video

For such a good damage simulator, beam really does a crap job at actually being any type of game. Nothing feels quite right like in other games, watching cars struggle along and die from overheating instead of damage just doesn't make for fun destruction
