Hearing Librarian talk about how sinister rubber duckies are made me think about watching him play Plastic Placid Duck Simulator and hearing him ramble on and on about how conniving and dastardly the pool ducks are for forcing other ducks into the hot tub, or something to that effect, at least.
@@DolphinsAreWeird I'm sorry, my wording must've been somewhat confusing. He hasn't played PPDS before, I meant that it made me think about watching a theoretical video in which Librarian plays PPDS. Sorry for the confusion.
classic beamng, from destruction derby to stalker syndrome. we got it all. hell. you can even make some wheeled abomination for this game thanks to Automation, lmfao. (i've seen cursed cars in automation that freaked me out more than any demon of creature would, unspeakable creatures on wheels that would make Mister Pagani himself wish he was never born.)
There's something so funny about the concept of driving in the backrooms to me. I can imagine myself drifting trough the backrooms like Ken Block (RIP) like there's no tomorrow and running over one of the entities there by accident. I really don't know why anyone (except for Spealer) never thought about actually driving in the backrooms. It seems like a cool idea that shoud be explored more. Anyways, good afternoon or night or whatever to anyone who's watching the video and reading this comment.
in the actual backrooms lore theres whole levels based around it. kane pixels isnt the only one to envision the idea, theres longstanding user-sustained wikis
22:58 i hate that. I can imagine trying to crawl up that, then falling off and snapping my legs like a twig. I don't know why but the presence of water just makes it worse. Maybe because I associate it with less clothes so I'm more vulnerable to any injuries I may face.
What makes these two BeamNG experiences so impressive to me is that the game wasn't made to have adventures like this at all. It was made to race and crash cars. Through a combination of the devs making a very powerful engine and editor, and Spealer just being some sort of a mapping genius (and also a super nice guy,) we can go on horror journeys where the fragility of our vehicle plays into our vulnerabilities as a player character. Amazing stuff.
That 4th map (the one after the pool map) reminds me of "The Path", for some reasons. Same vibe, same eerie music, same "things that don't belong in this place" kind of feeling. It would be such a great game for you to play!
If you are wondering Librarian, the map at 41:05 is based off the original grid map for beamng from its release to 2022, now its been replaced by grid v2
Ive always wanted someone to reupload the original gridmap but ive never found anyone who did it, its like besieges original sandbox map, there are some old reuploads but with missing features
I'll let you know important keybinds for a better experience in BeamNG: Insert to reset your current vehicle in place (Hold it to recover further) Shift+C for freecam F7 to teleport your current vehicle to your camera
Day 3rd of recommending Beware as a series. (This game has a lot of creepy&comfy stuff, I've seen only you playing this game in short horror games, this game is definetly worth a whole series of exploring and finding secrets, really).
The Backrooms map in Garry's Mod has wide enough corridors for you to drive the buggy around. It's a lot of fun, like rally racing but more cramped. I've always thought it would be neat to ride a bicycle in the Backrooms. For all intents and purposes, it is a wilderness. Just not one made of nature. A good bike would be perfect for traversing it.
there's this feeling that you might be driving casually, but something you cant see it, but you feel it. its sitting on your back seat. not there to exactly do harm to you. may be just take on the trip with you. but its there nonetheless. its alluring. you can call me crazy, but company is company, good or bad. if they're with you. something about you is interesting enough ig.
A thought just enetered my head. Imagine a Liminal Spaceship. As in a ship that travels Liminal Space. Every time the ship stops and you hop out you're in a new very slender or backrooms-like experience. Some have people, some have monsters, some are just a hostile or creepy environment but most are just empty. Like travelling through the creepy pasta and unfiction subredits, there's really no knowing what you're going to find.
@@rarefide probably not. In my experience, when people compare two games or movies, there's one superficial detail in comon and the rest of the description was ignored. please describe gmod elevator sorce so that I may draw your focus to the differences or be proven wrong because the two concepts are in fact identical
@@lexibyday9504 it would be uniquely different in setting and you could do some creative different things with the vastness of space and the spaceship you occupy, but the gameplay you described is similar to gmod elevator source. In which you get on an elevator and are sent to randomized stops, some of which are fairly liminal, and some do have people who will enter with you until you reach your destination. If I were to play the idea you described as a game i wouldn't think of it as a copy of elevator source, but I think it would come to my head and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some inspiration
@@rarefide well unlike an elevator I wasn't thinking of people getting into the ship but more like infinite ikea levels where there's people living in some of the liminal worlds that the liminal spaceship passes by. you could trade resources with them and maybe buy upgrades from them. The weird and hostile worlds would be where you get those resources mabe like Lethal Company a bit but with move variety of location besides just abandoned facility. Maybe it could lean into being liminal startrek. I know I found it creepy in startrek online when I was inside my ship and the bridge was empty except for me. If the liminal spaceship had this huge interior full of unmanned work stations it would have that feeling of a big empty space that would normally have people in it. Maybe there's a very rare chance of finding people to man those stations and eventually the USS Uncanny Valley has a freaky looking crew and doesn't have problems as often and moves between liminal worlds faster... Now there's just the question of what the end goal of this game would actually be? Are you trying to go somewhere in particular? These games tend to be hunts for exits. The final upgrade for each station is automation allowing you to start looking for exits to get everyone home. Once you're alone on the ship again, you find your exit and leave. The best ending could come from finding every character and getting them all home thus rendering the liminal universe empty again.
@@lexibyday9504 oh yea, that's a bit more linear than what i imagined, i was thinking a small cozy ship that you could personalize with items you find along the way to contrast the creepy environments found at each stop. i feel like a large manned ship might not make you feel vulnerable enough, and take away from the creepiness in isolation. But if done right it could definitely have some charm with the unique characters you recruit along the way, maybe the threat of cosmic entities could outweigh the safeness of the ship, or it could be used to set up a false sense of security. it could have sort of coherent storyline or progression like you described, but with an indefinite ending. If the ship was huge with a lot of potential residents there could be a lot to work towards and become attached too, and maybe sometimes you could get invaded by aliens, or attacked by some sort of entity the size of a planet. there's some pretty good flexibility with the concept
As a car enthusiast and horror game watcher. You have no idea how I love to watch my favorite horror game youtubers giving one of my all time favorite video games a go.
I just found your channel and I AM LOVING IT!! Finding someone else with this same love for the wanderlust of discovering creepy liminal places is amazing! Thank you for voicing all of my thoughts about these places through your videos; you really make cool content! :)
I love playing this game with my driving wheel, I even get moments where I sit down to play the game and I have the urge to put my seatbelt on, because it's like I'm actually about to go for a drive. I bet combining that with VR in this game is even better of an experience.
I’m so glad we’ve made it to this map! I was so excited since the last video. This map is so darn cool- this is right up my alley... Liminal Spaces are my obsession. (As you can tell by my PFP)
I love it whenever a transition occurs. It always surprises me. 👍🏼😀 Even though there's nothing scary it manages to be very unnerving due to the unknown. Sometimes just not knowing can scare me.
40:20 I used to play Pro Skater 4 on my iBook G4. To accommodate draw distance limitations on the Mac version, the maps had an almost Silent Hill-esque fog effect. Eerie stuff.
14:08 it was kinda like if the light consumed the car, almost like a snake eating it’s prey, the way it moved or looked like it was zooming around the falling car before casting it into a new area
11:41 this is by far the most realistic description of liminal spaces. The first 4chan post was realeased between 11 or 12 or 14 may 2019 18 May 2019 was the movie Vivarium released Dinnerbone777 post his short clip on 22. July 2020 Kane Pixels Videos came out ont 7. January 2022
I have a feeling this would apply to a lot of these styles of map but I think the best vehicle variants for maps that don’t recommend a vehicle would likely be rally variants of something like the covet, old pessima, or sunburst or the off road variants of cars like again the sunburst n bastion. Generally just have better ground clearance for awkward terrain n usually have extra lights
If there is one game I instantly thought about you when I saw it, it's 2:22 AM. It's a short little game about, well... I'm not gonna spoil it. Look it up, it's on itch.
Thanks for the lovely content as always Li… so ahem if I may ask when are we gonna get that “Beware” gameplay… ever since you said it I really wanna see it. 👀

The Librarian was referencing a particular moment from an old episode of SpongeBob. A whole bunch of shenanigans occur where Squidward breaks a time machine and it sends him to a completely white void. The whole episode he is trying to find peace and quiet, so he says "finally I'm all *alone."* A bunch of disembodied voices (the ones Librarian used here) start saying it over and over, which terrifies Squidward and drives him nuts, so he uses the time machine to escape again. The Librarian was making a joke about how you start in a white void in this map, just like Squidward in the episode.
