In this segment, we're still trying to figure out what to do with all that abrasive sand, hoping it hasn't caused a lot of damage to the show. We get Billy Bob patched in to our air compressor, and tried to get him to move.
I really don't know why, but, how robots work really interests me. What surprised me when I began my research on how these guys work quite a while ago is that they aren't even electrically powered for the most part. Most robots I have seen happen to be completely electrically powered (androids, furbies, Cosmo, Sphero.) With most real-life animatronics, however, they are pneumatically powered, the speakers, lights, and air compressor being the only things on or beneath stage taking electricity. This struck me as unique.
I don't know why, but this and restoring the Wolf Pack 5 are such interesting videos to me. I just love seeing old, broken animatronics being fixed up to start working like they did so long ago. It's just so cool to watch the process! (Now we just need Billy Bob's Wonderland to get their stuff together)
I always find these kinds of videos on your channel so interesting to watch, these and "Bringing up the Wolf Pack 5" are my favourites. I love to see the characters when they're not working well, or run down, and it will be very interesting to see them be fixed up as good as new! I can't wait for the next part.
I wonder if for the sand floor, you could take some sheet foam (like the wall insulation kind) and sand/carve panels of it to a slightly uneven surface, give it a fiberglass layer to make it tough and paint it sand color. Then coat that with spray adhesive, throw a bunch of sand on it and let whatever sticks to it stick. Make the panels removable for hatch access, but it would be lighter weight and wouldn't get sand all in the workings?
I love these kinds of videos! There is something so intriguing and fascinating about seeing the mechanisms of the characters and what goes on behind the scenes to maintain a great show. Thank you for the video and keep up the great work! -Saman, a fan from England
OK Thanks! Then, you're gonna' get a lot of what you love because I'm gonna' show you every agonizing detail of this thing.. slightly edited...a little at a time, till we get it perfect.
This is kinda neat. I think I could get pretty good a servicing these shows. I always wondered what happened to the band from the Winnipeg branch. Did the characters get auctioned off when it closed? Did they return to you?
When Arron was installing the new Bear A Dice stage show back in the 2000’s, it used to be clean, fresh and working show. In the 2010’s it got decreased and a bad condition too.
Yup Aaron is banned from that place as the owner wanted him to fix it for free and he refused. But Aaron did not leave until the owner apparently threatened to hit him
And this is why I hate people with money. They go out and buy such wonderful creations like this, and then neglect to take care of them. I mean, they PAINTED Billy Bob's chin back on.
