These are the bows that get people into the sport. Having a review from a reputable shop/channel such as yours is a big deal helping newbies out. Most new people arent familiar with the used market either so they will be looking at new bows, and probably not $1500+ new bows, but bows like this
Yes I’m a newbie and I bought one of these, I mean I’m new just trying to learn how to shoot I’ve shot it three times and trying to sight it in. Could use some help on this 3 pin Hotwire sight it in don’t know how to actually sight it in. Thanks in advance 🙏🏽
@juanrodriguez-mu7ko chase the arrow when dialing in a sight. On the hot wire sight, the 20yd pin screw is the closest to you while holding the bow. The 30yd screw is the furthest from you directly on top of the sight. Use the knob to adjust the 3rd/slider pin. I bought the adapt+ rth back in February of this year as well. As far as sight tapes, get your bows fps with a chronograph then got to precision cut archery.
I think it would be great to showcase "entry" level equipment on the channel. People get so caught up in the high dollar stuff it almost creates a barrier to entry into this sport. Showing people that you don't have to spend $1500 plus on a setup to try out archery can only help our sport. Thanks for doing what you do MFJJ, hopefully will see you at a TAC event next year and good luck with the rest of hunting season. Congrats on the antelope!
For me, it all started in 1992 at age 15 with a Bear Whitetail. Great review on this Bear bow. It's definitely a good entry bow that won't break the bank.
Would there be any chance, you could take the Bear Adapt tune it and take it out your 3D range. I think quite a lot people would like to see you, take round your range to see how it preforms...
I have been asking for more budget bows and reviews for a while!! I started with a bear g2 cruiser and now run an obsession m7. Thank you for keeping the more budget friendly bows on our radar! Yes please keep them coming!!
It's awesome see you review some entry-level equipment because not all of us can afford the more higher-end equipment. I have a Bear bow for about 2 years now and have had trouble finding a good shop to get it set up right but thanks to you channel and your I have been able to work a lot of my problems out myself. Keep up the awesome how to video!
Very interesting to see your opinion on these starter setups.. Being someone who is looking to buy a set up like this to get into the sport more casually and affordably, ANY knowledge that you can describe about the bow and its gear helps SO much. Great vid as always MFJJ!!
I appreciate you doing this now especially since it’s the one I got so I’m able to relate to the pros and cons of what I have now and how much better better bows are.
I bought one as a back up bow....wound up using it last year more than expected. It performed well. Harvested 3 deer with it last season. I'm only shooting 55#, and it's giving me right at 270 FPS. I have an old school Mathews LOL), that was my go-to for years, so I can't compare it to that. But like you said, that price point, with a $180 sight, a quick disconnect and quiver, I think it's an excellent deal. Especially for someone just trying to get in to bow hunting, or even as an extra bow (we all know how hard it is to get in to a bow shop during the season if our bow goes down). The only thing I did to it, was replaced the whisker biscuit with a drop away rest (preference).
Yep. Great review for a guy wanting to get into bow hunting. Hard to beat that package. That’s flagship speed just a few years ago. I love your “tuned and shipped” deal. Now that’s a bargain!!!
I think having a video or two a year on these "entry" level bows is a solid idea for trying to get new people interested in the sport going. Its easy to find a thousand reviews on the high end bows, but there are so many entry ones its hard to find any useful reviews on them. Great job MFJJ!
I shoot flag ship bows but i definitely like seeing entry level and mid priced bow reviews just as much. I took the 12 year old newphew to get his first bow and watched your reviews that gave an idea of what to check out for him
the older version of this bow was my first bow that i learned how to shoot with. it is a AMAZING beginner bow to learn with. i sold it and upgraded to a v3x 31. highly recommended for starters
This bow was the best for what i could afford and what got me into archery & bowhunting at24 years old and now i’m obsessed. I have the earlier gen. adapt. Only wish that it wasn’t such an expensive hobby lol. I’d like to upgrade parts but they’re not cheap.
I love that you are switching it up with some affordable options. While it is great to see the high end stuff, it is also very nice to see budget or mid level options that may not be that far off from the high end stuff but way more affordable.
Great stuff. I have a friend who is wanting to get into shooting compound bows and with his budget that is has to use to start out, I think this bow package would be a great starting point for him. Great content as always.
It’s a great entry level setup. I’d love to see you show how and why you’d make upgrades to it once they start shooting/hunting and want to improve it. I know exactly what I’d do, but but I’ll leave that to you to explain if you want.
Love the adapt. Bought one as a project a couple months ago, not the plus, just the regular thp adapt. The gear that came on that one is pretty poor, the plus has better accessories. I put the hotwire sight on there (like the plus) which is a nice sight by the way with the dialable floater pin. Didn’t like the biscuit at all so I put a trinity hunter pro on it tonight. Shoots well. It’s noisier than a flagship and speed isn’t great but for what it is at the price point it’s a solid hunting bow. Also shooting a bowtech realm SS so I know what a good bow looks like and feels like. All in all, it’s a pretty fun project and fun to shoot. Great reviews and checking all the specs to keep the companies honest is awesome. Look forward to your reviews whenever I see them.
Bear Archery has always made a great bow. I had a Bear Truth back in 2007 and it was one of the best bows i have ever had (an i have had a LOT of flagship bows). way to go Bear!
Thanks for the honest review. Your review will go a long way to helping people get into/get back into archery. Just got mine shipped today. Can't wait to shoot it!
I own a Bear Adapt and love it. Dropped plenty of Pigs here in Northern Australia. They're definitely no speed demon, but with shot placement and the broadheads i use, they are a great mid priced bow. I think that package as a RTH sells for just under $1000 AUD here. Great bow.
EXCELLENTLY DEFIANTLY a cool job, love the personal challenge, and defff something I would’ve done, or my add/ocd would’ve tried to accomplished lol, but nice job on getting it done and ready to go, good idea! And good luck, keep up the good hard work, and good vids don’t forget to breath lol
Love the new scoring system guys!. I literally wouldn't change nothin from it!... I am a HUGE Fred Bear fan!!! Love these newer bears especially in the legend series and the direction the company is trying to go in!! An I say heck yes bring on more budget friendly bows. Promote them as was fred bears intentions so many years ago the idea is still the same at Bear seems like. To have a bow available for litteraly almost EVERYONE to enjoy the sport for the better of it!!! Fred bear was an will always be "the bowfather" in my opinion, & im sure he would be happy with what they're puttin out an carrying on to this day, these bows are easier for begginers to buy an basically fall in love with the sport if set up correctly... I've had a love for shootin bows over 25 yrs an shootin a bear refine this year it will hang with anything out there, these entry level bears can dang near hang with flagships for half the price!!! Keep up the good work MFJJ Bring on tha new Bear Alaskan XT cause imo it will be the best "budget" bow of all time 🐐🐻🎯🏹💯💯💯
I feel it is worth your while to offer entry level bows. I still have my bear rth bow. Its the bow that opens the door for many archers who didnt grow up involved in the sport.
Yes!!!! I used to be a old bear bow user. And since then have no dealers around me who sell the flagship bows to see their quality. I currently shoot a ventum pro and have a v3x. But would like to see more reviews on more affordable bows and other brands instead of mainly the big 3
Eagle hardware on your yard stick... love it. Most folks probably don't even remember them. (Pre Lowes) I still have some ammo that says Outdoor Sportsman :)
Very interested in this and mid grade. As someone who has never owned a top end bow, I’d love your breakdown of entry, mid and top tier difference and if the juice is worth the squeeze…
I was pleasantly surprised on this speed actually. With that tied in tube peep and a WB rest I bet you easily gain 3 fps and that gets you close to only 10 under. Not bad for a $300 ish bow.
Please do more budget bow reviews (I shoot a Bear species ev &Bear Wild ) and the upgrades that will make the experience better and can move onto more expensive bows in the future!
I shoot a Bear resseragence and for the price as you said its hard to beat most of us out here dont have 2,000 and up for a bow so its a good middle ground not to mention the deer don't care how much your rig cost long as it sends arrows downrange where ya want them to go lol nice review btw!!!
One review ive been looking for is for the bear whitetail legend pro based on the on paper stats it should be one of the best bows on the market for its price
You should do a review of the Alaskan xt. Yes more average shooter bows and reviews need to happen for those os us who can’t afford a $2000 setup, but have been shooting for a number of years.
I would like to see some of those Bear archery bows going head to head seeing the best bang for your buck and would also like to see a couple older used bows that you commonly get in trade ins and or just come across
I'd love to see Bear Archery really make the big comeback. I think they're high end bows are really good just nobody is willing to spend the top dollar for them. It's very cool they've got a budget minded option. All that said, I just wouldn't be able to buy a bow with the Hunting Publics name on it.
I have last years adapt non plus. Which was just the bow no accessories and i found to be a decent bow i am happy with it but it is a bit jumpy on the back wall. As long as you pushing and pulling its not a big deal
100% you should do more in depth reviews on more budget friendly archery gear. Not just bows, but accessories too. The reality is that there are FAR more people out there that can spend $600 on gear than can spend $2000. Better yet, you should take a more budget friendly bow, dress it with budget friendly accessories (not the bottom of the barrel, but mid-grade) and then you should shoot that bow in TAC and other events, and hunt with it. My guess is your shooting would be very close to what you do with a high-end flagship with all of the expensive accessories. A Bear Alaskan for example. That would be a bow you could shoot amazingly well. And, doing such a project would not hurt the sales of your flagship stuff at all. People who can afford flagship will always buy it. The outcome might be increased sales of the mid-grade stuff such as Bear, etc. Thank you!
I shoot a bear legit and put some after market strings arrow rest cable slide limb dampeners etc since the factory package for 420 bucks since problems kept coming up but these bows are what get people into it and will come back for more business in the future when knowing what they like ready for a new expensive bow
Not too shabby. I do wonder what kind of a comparison can be had buying a used flagship from ebay, then accessorizing with new or used items, then comparing. It seems the big and the sight are the biggest concerns.
I would like to hear your opinion on APA Archery. A review on a Black Mamba would be cool. Especially because they are manufactured only 12 -13hrs from Spokane and they are a quite different to all the other manufacturers.
I’m happy these options exist. I would ever buy today, but 15 years ago I needed these types of options. The only critique I will mentioned is it seems awfully loud or Maybe it’s just your microphone…
Would love to see a comparison video between your new Hamskea mount and the Hamskea Versa Overdraw. Does your Hamskea mount work on Mathews bows despite the fact that Mathews bows only have a single berger hole? Or would it be less stable with a singular securing point?
I just bought the original adapt and have been getting into bow tuning and building but I have not yet seen a video on timing of a single cam bow. I love your videos on checking timing for two cam bows and the overall tuning of those bow but have not yet seen one for the single cam. Doesn't have to be long but if you could run through some major points and things you can do at home to check timing I would appreciate that because I appreciate the knowledge you have and that you share. That is very rare in the archery community. Thank you.
How do you like your Bear Adapt? I just bought the RTH package and it’s at the shop getting tuned up and I will get to shoot it tomm or the next day. It’s my first real bow after using my father in laws 30 year old Mathews
Just got the bear adapt last week.. from what I’ve read and heard there is no timing necessary for the bow. It’s a single cam..Just make sure the ata is correct, brace height is correct and the center shot and d-loop are correct and you are close enough to fine tuning it.
I think you have the best reviews for what people need to know. Would love to see some by PSE if you deal much with them. Thanks for the great content.
What would be an upgrade from this adapt plus? Looking to he into the hobby and really liking this one for the price. But If I could safe a few more dollars what would be next in line?
Yes. Do every bow you can. I think the person who wants to enter the sport needs to think economical first. Then a year or two later if they take to Archery the 2K bow is next.
heY Josh love your vidoes. I am a short Draw. 26.5". I hunt out west here in Arizona. So i would like to get some speed. I currently shoot a Hoyt Torrex Xt. shooting a 385 grain arrow @ 271 FPS. I was looking into the Bowtech solution SD. Would I got significant increase in speed with that bow? None of the shops near me have them in stock.
So a couple of weeks ago i am out shooting and my bow blows up on me. I just had knee surgery and money is well none existent rite now so im like great what do i do now. This was the only option i had if i were unable to get my bow fixed, its a 22 year old Hoyt Cybertec which i love! I got very lucky the shop called Hoyt but Hoyt said sorry we no longer have that part, then Hoyt called rite back to the shop and said wait we have 1 how many do you need. Thankfully i only needed the one so i was able to fix my bow. But if i were not able to fix it this is the only bow i would have been able to buy for this years hunt. So yes i think you should keep a few in stock for those moments when you need something that will work and you cant afford a RX7 ;)
What did you end up doing with rhis bow? Did you shoot anymore arrows through it? I went to buy one from your website but you were sold out. For the price point do you think these bows are worth it?
It does. Comes with a cable stop installed and an optional limb stop in the box for a solid back wall. It’s a great shooting bow. My “flagship” bow has been sidelined since I got the Adapt. It’s not just a starter bow, it’s a very capable bow
Man theses cheaper bows are needed I know a lot of people who want to get into archery but say it's to expensive. And people need to realize they aren't junk they have killed tons of animals.
Me myself am a entry-level archarer. I shot alot when I was a kid with fingers. Couple yrs ago I bought the bear legit. It's been a good bow for the price. Also when I upgrade I'll pass it down to my 8 year old son. So I think bringing in budget friendly bows is a great idea.
Budget friendly is not just for beginners either some guys like myself are not gonna waste there hard earned money for maybe a nicer or bigger name just to kill deer. And you can not judge a bow from a video for everyone watching! Because I found this bow after shooting to be very dead in the hand and a very good back wall. You have to shoot the bow to get a feel for it yourself because everyone is different!
