Kudos to Bear for keeping the single cam alive. With their pricing and bang for the buck quality, I think Bear is well positioned to gain market share in the current economy.
Nice review. I’ve recently gone back to Solocam bows and they are very much as capable as any human. Kudos to Bear for appealing to the THP and the more budget hunter just wanting to be in Gods creation and not breaking the bank to do it. Dean
I actually went back to shooting an older bear single cam (domain). I just loved the easy tuning as I do it all myself. The smooth draw cycle is easy on the shoulder. I really would love to see bear go back to offering a flagship single cam again. I know I would be a buyer!
I absolutely love bear bows. I started with a 2021 G2 cruiser and killed my first buck with it. Really easy to start with and learn on. Super adjustable and the price is great! Love your content and congratulations on the shop! Looking forward to supporting a great new shop
I bought the Bear Legit model, so in the same tier of affordability and quality, and I must say it lives up to its name! I’m brand new to archery, and your videos have been very helpful to me. Keep it up!
Everyone hit that like and subscribe!!! This guy has the most honest reviews and informative archery videos on the internet. I'm 55 yo and benn slinging arrows 45 and this guy has forgotten more about archery than I'll ever know!
Got one of these a few months ago, absolutely love it. First compound bow and after watching some tuning videos and about 20 shots was ready to hunt at 20 yards. After a few days of shooting I can make 40 yard kill shots on foam all day and will have no question shooting a deer at 30.
Congrats again on the proshop! You re the most helpful no BS archery youtuber! Too bad I live right next to Phillipsburg NJ and not Phillipsburg PA, was so excited to hear Phillipsburg lol (Live in Easton PA). I bought this exact bow a bit more than a month ago, it is my first bow, and I am taking it to the woods for my first whitetail season ever, it is so smooth, accurate and so far dependable, already shot 1000s of arrows through it and I am just addicted and can't let it sit! Thanks again Jack, you re the man!
am going from pse brute to this bow---shot it today at my local shop and it was smooth and easy at 60lbs, had the pse for 14 yrs plenty of deer harvester from this, but lets be real here- the Bear EV is Awesome look forward to this season of archery, today was Christmas all over again.😁
Great review Nate, and i’m not looking for a bow, I just love watching all of your videos as I always learn something new, I’m so happy for you and your family being able to buy your own Bow shop, I just wish I lived 1000 miles closer! I hope people realize how lucky they are to have such a knowledgeable and honest archery shop owner in your area, i’m sure they do! God bless!
The new model Species and this years Legit RTH are the same price, are roughly the same weight, one has a little shorter brace height, and one is a single came. I would choose the legit over the species, solely because of the adjustability of the legit model. 10-70lbs and 14-30inch draw is a fantastic way to get a youth or weaker person started in the sport and they could easily use this single bow for the next 20+ years and it function great as the grow stronger. As always thanks for the video Nate!
Just bought my first bow. Got the previous model Species on sale at Sportsman’s Warehouse for $280 and got an additional 20% for applying and using the store credit card ended up at like $240 shipped to my door. I really didn’t think it was going to be such a nice bow for being so cheap.
Got this bow for $325 at Bass Pro. This is the best sub $400 bow maybe ever. Extremely quiet. Extremely accurate. Put a good drop rest and maybe upgrade the sight and strings and you've got yourself a BEAST that is below $500. For sheer performance at under 50 yards. I can't justify paying more for a bow.
shot a bear legit for 4 years and i took three elk with it. right out of the gate those lower tier bear packages are pretty freakin solid. they have some lower end bow problems like the set screws in the cams loosening from vibration etc but if you just do a good preventative maintenance check before you fling arrows each time you really cant go wrong with these packages.
Great review! This makes me want a singlecam again! I killed more game with a singlecam Matthew's then Anything else! Don't care avast anyone else says singlecams are more forgiving than 2 cams! Thanks for reminding me!
I use the bear authority rth package up here I Alaska and have taken caribou and moose with it. Hopefully will take a sheep and bear this year with it. Had it for years when they first came out. It has been trough the Alaskan testing grounds and passed with flying colors
This is a good review video! I bought this exact bow back in December, (Christmas gift for myself) as a starter bow. And I can say its been a good buy for someone who just recently just started bow hunting (i used to just casually do target practice).
Great video! I just recently purchased a Cabela's Uproar RTH, which is made by Bear and has all of the same accessories as their RTH packages and is basically a Resurgence. So why didn't I get the Resurgence since they're the same price? My buddy works at Bass Pro and he gets 50% off Bass Pro and Cabela's products, so I spent $225 on my first bow and I'm consistently hitting 4 inch groups now at 30 yards, just 2 weeks in. Nothing about it feels cheap and while I probably will eventually upgrade, I sometimes wonder if I'll ever even have to, it just feels great. That being said, I've never shot a Mathew's or a Hoyt, etc. but for anyone thinking they need a super high-end bow for their first bow, unless you have tons of spare cash, I'd say just go with Bear! Plus, I didn't have to buy any accessories!
You forgot to mention that unlike other bow companies that has polymer limb pockets for their lower end bows bear has aluminum limb pockets for all their bows.
First modern compound I purchased (4 years ago) was a 2013 Bear Legion (320fps, 30" ATA). Great shooting bow. I wouldn't trade my SR6 for it, but really nice for a mid level bow. I've thought about picking up a Bear Paradox single cam as a backup, as it is a tiny bit faster (330 fps) and longer (32" ATA). Maybe you should do a review on the Paradox as well... *wink wink*
Man I wish we had a shop like yours where I live. I don't look like your typical archer and with this I don't get treated very well at all when I take my bow to one. They get my bow good enough. I tell them I don't know much and they try to get me to buy the most expensive stuff they sell and won't order anything and when they put the stuff on my bow I have to tighten everything and if I take stuff in there they refuse to put it on my bow.
That's riser looks like its from my Divergent EKO... great bow. I love my Bear. IMO their bows are all but untouchable when it comes to value and their flagship bows shoot every bit as good as anything on the market short of maybe the V3X which is hands down the most stable holding, dead in the hand bow Ive ever shot/owned.
Hey Jack I was trying to find one of your videos on the PSE Stinger bows. It reminds me of the bow you have in this video. I didn’t see a video of yours on it.
Not putting this down but I bought a Bear about 7 or 8 years ago and was extremely disappointed Maybe different now but from 20 to 30 yards was ok but 40 yard pin was way down from the other pins and 50 yards would not sight in It was all over the place I wanted extreme accuracy for hunting because shooting at an animal is different than target shooting 40 and 50 yards accurately at the target range gives me confidence at 20 and 30 yards in the field I know my bow is performing at its best
I wish bear would get back in to the Target/Hybrid hunting and target bow I think they would do well with a single cam 35 ATA bow smooth shooting bow that can do well at all things archery including 3D and indoor and hunting
I have the Species EV and love it. But Bear gave me the wrong poundage bow; 60# instead of the 70# I paid for. Sent my bow in for a swap to get the correct poundage. I’ll either sell my Species EV or keep it as a back up once i get it back. So I just upgraded to the new Adapt bow. I thought the Species EV was amazing for the price, but the Adapt is incredible for the price point. Such a smooth draw cycle
I bought the v3x because it has a hump before the valley I like to feel the weight before the let off. The bow tech and Hoyt doesn’t have that hump they’re really smooth but that’s why I didn’t buy either of them.
Super stoked I got a Bear Divergent a month ago for $250 .... Trying to outfit the rest and sight etc. I've also got a Stinger max, not really sure if I should outfit them the same cuz I like the gear on my Stinger but kinda new and unsure if it'd b beneficial to have them similar or a different set up
That’s IBO. Max draw. 70#. 350 grain arrow. Real world for normal draw lengths and weight with hunting arrow will see 230-260. So yes much slower than normal by today’s standards for compounds!
@@averagejackarchery I guess Im still used to the days where my #50 recurve sent a 700 grain arrow at a blistering 190 fps and would still poke out the opposite rib cage of a muley at 35 yards 😂🤣 300 for any bow is insane to me
So here is my dilemna. I don't have the money to drop 1000 on a bow. I need a budget setup. But, I have a 31" draw and shoot left handed. Ideas? Thank you. Congrats on the new shop.
Well done as always. Thank you Sir. I am curious if this is much different from the Legit. Our bow shop encourages new bow hunters to & budget minded folk(especially young or female) to look at the Legit. I am slightly over 6' so they encouraged me to look at Legend as a budget bow. Any thoughts are appreciated.
The Legit is a widely adjustable bow for both draw length and weight. Goes 10-70# and huge adjustment. Bear's offering for the highly adjustable market to compete with Mission and Diamond. Good bow, but if you're done growing and can definitely handle 45-60 or 55-70#, the Legend series from Bear is a better option. Much better overall performance, single cam mostly, which is easier to tune and work one. Better back wall as well.
What about the adapt, I figured you would like that bow more, being longer axle to axle and just being a sweet looking bow. And limb and cable stops, just a simple tunable bow, I really want one, I just want a solo cam bow again
@@averagejackarchery yea they are pretty cool. I gps your shop today and it would be a 100 mile drive to your shop from my house. 2 hrs. I would like to come though. If I get serious about getting another bow I might take the trip
I'm planning on picking one up in August.I saw another review that said the 70# model will drop way below the 55# mark with the 10 alotted limb bolt turns. Not sure if it's fact or not though.
Couldn't care less about either. Speeds and sounds are so user specific based on setup it's crazy dumb to use them as benchmarks. Well, I think so anyway!
Bear Resurgence LD. Let me know if you're in the market for one I sold one to a gentleman with a 32" draw earlier this week! averagejackarchery@gmail.com
What would you say are the main disadvantages of the single cam? Between the species ev, and the legit, why pick one over the other? I'm currently shooting a cheap "redzone" eBay bow, and looking for the next step up. I was looking at a legit but concerned that at my shorter (27") draw length, I'll have lost a lot of speed / poundage. Also are there any other bows you'd recommend in this price range? Cheers from Australia.
The legit and species are night and say. The former feels like an entry bow, the latter you can die with. The species optimizes performance, speed, and price point over the legit. Hands down.
What shop do you work at I’m looking to get into archery and looking to purchase. I know very little and need draw length measured etc. I’m also located in central pa
Nothing wrong with a budget or mid price bow for your first hunting bow. The most important thing is to get in the woods and shoot some deer. If you do get a budget bow, you just want to make sure you get one like Bear that’s made in the USA and has quality control. I’ve heard horror stories about the Chinese junk you can get on Amazon.
Hi, Jack. This is Xiao, the representative of Aofar. I just watched your video, it's very practical and useful. So I want to invite you to test and review our newest hunting rangefinder. And I'll send an invitation email to you later, please check.
Dear average Jack sorry to talk to you on your bare species episode but I just finished watching your episode on opening a can of worms, I am a bowhunter been shooting a bow for 37 years I do use n a p spitfires 100 grains my arrow weighs 415 grains and I have never had a problem killing a deer or a hog with it and getting pass throughs, but when you tell people to grow up and stop shooting mechanicals and shoot a fixed blade I have to laugh about that because some of the best hunters in the world use mechanicals for example Levi Morgan uses schwacker David Blanton of realtree still uses spitfires 100 grains, I just can't understand how somebody with just 15 years or so of experience with a compound bow can actually tell people to grow up when really you would love to be 1/8 of what those hunters, I've I've been using spitfire broadheads for close to 30 years and I have never had a failure and I have never had a problem with pass-throughs on deer or hogs, Plus I don't care if you're using a fixed blade or a mechanical if you hit the shoulder bone on a deer or a hog not the shoulder blade you're not going through that with any broadheads, so with that said I find that using a mechanical and tuning my arrows to shoot the same as my field points is 10 times easier than trying to tune a fixed blade, next time before you tell someone to grow up and stop using a particular piece of equipment for archery do your research you're really not that much of a veteran of the compound bow.
Hello, may I please have another opinion if you don't mind whitetail legend or species ev? I don't see much of a price difference, so I'm wondering if it's worth the extra buck for the whitetail legend. I'm leaning towards the single cam bow just for the smooth draw and less worry of timing issues. If you've shot both, what's your take? Ty
I wonder how much money a man would haft to fork out to sell Matthew’s in his shop?? I’m gone take a guess and say they prolly want you to spend $250,000 up front!!any guesses??
Hey man. I’ve been trying to tune my bow to make sure my field points and broadheads are shooting very closely. I ended up somehow making my broadheads shooting dead center but my field points are really low almost not hitting the target. I have a PSE Uprising RTH bundle but it has a three pin sight and Qad drop release. I’m planning on going to the bow shop Thursday but is there anything I can do to make it right or do I just wait
