What is Bearing??
Bearings are "parts that assist objects' rotation". They support the shaft that rotates inside the machinery. Machines that use bearings include automobiles, airplanes, electric generators and so on.
How to work???
Bearing load is defined as the force that's transferred from one bearing ring, through some or all the rolling elements, to the other bearing ring. Application loads generally transfer to the shaft and then to the bearing's inner ring, then, to the outer ring.
Axial or thrust load on bearing!!!
Axial bearings, or thrust bearings, are designed to withstand force in the same direction as the shaft. This is called an axial load, or thrust load. In some applications, ceramic bearings, a type of radial bearing, are used to withstand high rotational speeds.
Radial load on bearing!!!
The force applied to a bearing is called the "load". The force applied perpendicularly to the shaft is called the "radial load
Bearings typically components:
Two rings,
inner and outer, with raceways.
Rolling elements - rollers or balls.
A cage which keeps the rolling elements spearted and helps guide motion.
There are five types of rolling elements that are used in rolling-element bearings:
balls,
cylindrical rollers,
spherical rollers,
tapered rollers, and needle rollers.
Most rolling-element bearings feature cages.
The cages reduce friction, wear, and bind by preventing the elements from rubbing against each other
Lubrication!!!
To lubricate each part of the bearing, and to reduce friction and wear. To carry away heat generated inside bearing due to friction and other causes. To cover rolling contact surface with the proper oil film in order to prolong bearing fatigue life.
