On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Adam Rank discusses Bears rookie minicamp, Caleb Williams' stardom, the chemistry between Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze and more!
The Caw is cringe? I remember when our QB kept getting fined for wearing a headband, mooned a news helicopter and let's not forget the super bowl shuffle and yes the were all complete fun and made me laugh. We need more things like this not less. BEAR DOWN!
I'm fine with it this young man has a certain air about him self and confidence. Papa Bear once said you have to have fun with it too doing your job. Chicago up BEAR DOWN 💯🐻🏈 Exciting season ahead
I don't get this Justin Fields thing because he sat back in the pocket and as soon as he felt pressure he dropped his eyes and began looking for a hole to run in. I was waiting for him to finally play with some poise in the pocket where he used his peripheral vision to move around the pocket and keep his eyes down field to throw to a receiver. He stared down his hot receiver too long and by the time he progressed to number 2 it was too late and the coverage caught back up after that open window was long gone. This is why only 1 receiver had numbers last year! Kmet had most of his receptions as a first look option, move out of the pocket throw or a check down! Very few 2nd option receivers got many opportunities because Fields got flustered too easy (This is why Mooney had few targets)! I've heard way too many people talk about Fields not being able to process quickly. I don't care how much help he had last year; he was only going to connect with his first option 80 % of his drop backs. Speaking of anticipation; Fields refused to throw a ball to a receiver on a hitch for example before they turned around to look for the ball very often! Something ruined his confidence, but don't know how much he had to start with considering in college he had several other teammates on the field that were 4-star recruits or higher. Fields is one of those QB's that play well when everyone on the field is a superstar, but not so much when the team has to heavily lean on him! Don't care if you agree with this or not; apparently you didn't watch very many All-22s of Bears football games last year!
Delusional fields fans. The only reason he was good in college is because he was throwing to a myriad of 1st round picks. His first read was always open by 5 yards.
Brother you are 💯 on the money. This breakdown is the only possible breakdown eyes can see when the individual let's go of their emotions and keeps it real with themselves. This is why even the games where he played well for a good portion but the team ended up blowing it.. I put a solid amount of blame on him. I.e. Denver and the first Lions game. Of course you can make the argument that it was his play that put them in a position to have the lead. But when it came down to it in crunch time, too many times he folded like a lawn chair. Same with the Cleveland game. Yes, Tonyan dropped that nuke down the field and Mooney dropped the hail Mary to end the game but our defense was playing lights out. If we even had middle of the line QB play in that game the score is not even close. we win by blowout. It's the simple shit within the pocket that even someone like Jake browning or Tyson Bagent can do that Fields is dreadful at that holds him back and will probably always hold him back. And while it's unfortunate bc he has some elite skills, it simply is what it is. And it's why I believe we will be very very good with Caleb. Bc he can make special plays and the simple ones. It will be an interesting dynamic with Caleb, seeing how he goes through the trial and error of looking for the big play vs. taking the easy play. But he's so aware in the pocket and his overall football IQ is quite high that I believe, barring injury, there's simply no way he doesn't end up being very good in the NFL. From the interviews of his and his QB coaches, it doesn't appear he just studies film. He studies everything. Constantly tinkering on how to improve in many facets of the playing the QB position. The Bears look like they might finally have something. Something big.
Details good but I have news for you. All college QBs are similar to Fields. Caleb is no different - fumble City and he will never run like Justin. Tyson is the secret weapon as he is following the footsteps of Jordan Love. Chicago players can not catch. Aaron Rodgers pointed this out publicly and was also traded. Fields was drafted with the look of horror on his face coming into a fouled up team. He tried to fix Claypool spending time with him off-season. Justin will recover well in all categories in Pennsylvania. 🐻⬇️🧆🏝️
Eberflus had an absolute shit offensive coordinator and a defensive coordinator who was gone after week one because of some weird shit… I’ll give him credit for what he was able to do. He has some improvements to make though.
Flus is to blame? It can't be stated enough what an upgrade Caleb is over Fields right now as a passer. The below excerpt is by Kole Noble from Dec. 25, 2023. "According to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain, Fields is now tied for the league-lead with six fourth quarter interceptions in 2023 following his turnover on the team's opening drive of the final quarter on Sunday. It's not a good look for a player looking to win over the front office in order to remain the team's franchise quarterback. It's even worse considering Fields is tied with Jordan Love (who is in his first full season as a starter) and Sam Howell (who has now been benched twice this season). The stat is even more concerning when factoring in that Fields has played in 11 of the Bears 15 games and has nine total interceptions on the season. And it's not just a 2023 problem. As Fishbain also mentioned, Fields has 12 fourth quarter interceptions dating back to the start of the 2022 season, which is three more than any other quarterback in the entire league."
@@paulieprinceton4550 Facts! Flus can call the play, but the players have to actually perform it. Even great coaches need their key players to perform in order to succeed. Blaming Flus for Justin's or the defense's errors would be like blaming the director when an actor forgets his lines, lol!
20:22 Oh, you mean him being a weak-kneed vegetarian who’s afraid of turkey sandwiches and has no clue how to workout in a gym? 🤔 I guess we’ll never know…🤷🏾♂️
Boomers don't understand they're going to die the bear claw and caleb Williams will only get the Chicago bears a new generation of fans which is good because I was born in '92 and have only seen the bears in the superbowl once so they don't exactly deserve new fans I don't know why that's so hard for the old guard to see
I'm in my 50s and I love his enthusiasm . Just because some people are crying I don't think it is more than a small bunch. They are pretty much the same ones saying they have to keep JF and Caleb doesn't want to be a Bear and should force his way out.
You just have to find a way to talk about JF1! He is gone Rank go with him to Pittsburgh you will feel so much better. CALEB WILLIAMS TIME get with it or GTFO!
@@jrhayes6901 based on the fact that he was a UDFA from a Dll school that had ZERO experience playing on a big stage. He's got skills, but he, I NO way, is a #1 QB, for ANY team.
GEEZ JUST STOP... JUSTIN SUCKS THAT IS WHY HE IS NOT HERE AND THAT IS WHY THE BEARS COULD NOT GET MORE FOR HIM AND THATS WHY THE STEELERS ARE WANTING TO MAKE JUSTIN A PUNT RETURNER 😂😂😂 SO JUST GET OFF HIS JOCK ALREADY GO ROOT FOR THE STEELERS AND COVER THER STEELERS YOU DONT DESERVE TO COVER THE BEARS NO MORE
