She had previously warned him that she won't wait around while he self-destructs, only for him to push her away. While she keeps her word, she is relieved Gar is finally recovering.

You can try to love someone through the pain, but if they themselves don’t want to heal or even talk about it there’s not much of anything you can do. And if they push you away and even (metaphorically, sometimes literally) spit in the face of your love, then you truly must consider your options. In a relationship communication and reciprocation is key, you have to be ready for the possibility that everything and anything you put into that relationship can be gone in an instant. Love is beautiful, dangerous, complicated, even scary when you don’t understand it; but it should never be painful.
Perdita did the right thing. The best you can do in that situation is walk away especially if they refuse to get help. Don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm
And you say if they don’t want help. WHAT IS HELP. Not everyone HELP is your HELP. The fact that people try and force their ideals into others is crazy.

I think helping people is noble but you also need to accept that help can’t be given if the person doesn’t want it. Honestly, I get where Predita is coming from. Both Garfield and Predita are of the same age, and they have both been through many deaths of loved ones. Garfield lost his mother, Rita, and the doom patrol squad. But Predita has carried her fair share of Traumas too, certainly more than someone her age should ever carry. She lost her parents at what? 9 years old? And then she was left with the burdens and responsibilities of being Queen to a whole monarchy. There are Kings in the past left with that responsibility at such an age and then going insane. Granted she was probably helped by a parliamentary or something of the like but even if she is just a figure head, that's a lot for a child to carry on top of the grief of having lost her family, being alone, and don't get me started on her only living family member being a homicidal lunatic constantly trying to commit regicide. And we all don't know anything about her, she may not have the support system Garfield has. I don't know about you but the fact that she bonded so closely to a teen boy who had saved her once gives me the vibe that Predita might not be able to trust everyone around her in Vlatava, probably due to the aforementioned homicidal family member, at least not enough to build a support system around. Which means her day to day is relatively lonely, and Garfield probably means so so much to her. And now, that very same partner who she silently emotionally relies on so intensely just knowingly hurt her. He may not be in his right mind while doing so, but none of that justifies the pain he unjustifiably caused her, she has enough pain to last a lifetime.
@@coldeed she offered help, she was willing to support him through the process of healing, which is obliged in a healthy relationship. She is not, however, obliged to tear herself apart trying to help a partner who doesn't want to be helped.

I had a friend just like Garfield during depression and it was affecting my mental so much I had to end the friendship especially when he refused to get help but wanted to come to my place and commit suicide when I caught him in my driveway enough was enough so I ended the friendship and told him to call me when he got help . That was 2 yrs ago and he’s so much better
my first boyfriend had a lot of damage and was very reliant on me. He said if I ever left him (he'd say this out of pocket too like if we were just talking about random shit, not fighting) he'd kill himself and that he needed me. He was very depressed but refused to get help and it put so much pressure on me as a 13 year old (he was 16). 2 years prior I had been SA'd and really needed a man who I felt loved me to feel protected and safe. One night in a depressive fit or something he confessed to r*ping a girl (around my age at the time) and I honestly couldnt do it anymore, not to mention scared shitless. He killed himself and honestly I dont know how to feel. Now I just refuse to start relationships/friendships with people who have some type of severe mental illness because I genuinely cant handle it. I hope that girl is okay. Glad ur friend is doing better though, sorry to vent.

You know, this makes me so mad. Because now that they have confirmed that season 5 is canceled. I'm so mad that their relationship ended it that note because I loved them together. They were so cute and now it's like. Oh wait we're never gonna know if they ended back together again
I'm really glad they had Perdita respond this way. This is EXACTLY how you handle this kind of situation. If you love someone, and they need help but refuse to get it, you don't keep coddling and holding on to them. You remove yourself from that unhealthy position. Maybe it'll make them see how wrong they've been when they lose you, maybe it won't. But it's never your job to fix someone who refuses to get help. Also, to the people who think Perdita is in the wrong, please reevaluate your relationships, because chances are you're a toxic individual who refuses to fix themselves, and getsm ad at anyone who refuses to bend over backwards to keep you happy; or whatever you pass off as happy, because I can't imagine people like that know what the word means.
Seeing Garfield like that just breaks me. What breaks me even more is he has help but doesn't use it. They were really cute & I think perfect. Such a shame. This is so not just a kids show
Perdita and Gar were so cute together. Especially so because we watched them grow up from season 1. It's tragic to see this happen (especially knowing this is the end of their romantic relationship) but hard to blame either side. Perdita isn't Garfield's keeper and the ruler of a nation who still has to deal with a scheming uncle trying to kill her. She offered to help Gar and he pushed her away. On the other hand Gar was dealing with serious depression having lost so many people and felt at fault. And it's really great that he does eventually seek help even though he can't get back the things he pushed away. Plus at the end of the day both are very young. There's a lot worse ways first relationships can end.
Real life lesson right here even when you are hurt and people love you when you push them away the ramifications sometimes stay what you say or do have consequences
I don't agree with giving ultimatums and I also understand where Perdita was coming from. You can't expect someone to stay in a relationship where one person isn't even able to give or receive love anymore. Unfortunately, as the ruler of a literal country, Perdita can't be the person who stays by his side through this. And this didn't come out of nowhere, he'd been blowing her off for months. Not everyone is meant to be together for the long haul and that's okay. He needs to focus on himself and she needs to do the same. Hopefully they can be friends in the future at least.
@@cleaver2151 agreed, but more often than not people who go through depression feel like a burden and push people away. When Gar said "i didn't ask you to." He looked a bit hurt by the fact he now has to push away Perdita too. At the end of the season, he apologizes to Perdita. She accepts the apology but lets him know she still cares and is willing to support him, but she has already moved on. They are on good/friendly terms, but most likely not dating again
He saves the planet damn near every day, I’m sorry to say…her responsibilities don’t even come close to his. There’s levels to this. She abandoned him, she was a horrible person. It’s okay. Her duties don’t call for a lot. She has aides, and multiple forms of government. He’s a celebrity, and risks his life saving people as well. As I said once more, there’s levels to this. He lost his friend, someone close. He lost his parents. He lost the doom patrol, and much more has happened to him. The most she lost was her parents. He was tired of people relying on him, on him always being called. He needed a break from everything. She pushed, but why? Not everyone’s help is their help. Just because she had her vision of help, and wanted to help him doesn’t mean he needed it. He needed to be alone, and think. Even if it means destroying himself slightly to build himself back up, in which he did. After he was abandoned, because she was no help. In a relationship, if you can’t handle any and everything, aside from infidelity, then you shouldn’t be in a relationship. Anything can happen at any time, people get sad and people get happy. But it doesn’t mean it’ll always be that way, people need their alone time as well. Just like when you weren’t in a relationship, and you’d distance yourself from people because of stress or something. It’s common sense. Relationships are sacrifices, and marriage is even more than that. If she couldn’t support him through this, at a distance…she shouldn’t ever be in a relationship, because much worse can happen, and will.

Idk imo Perdita and the Young Justice members did Garfield mad dirty. She shows up once, gives him an ultimatimatun he's clearly not going to go for, and she's like ok fuck you I'm out. Same with his "friends," they just let him sit for 3 months until Meghan finally showed up and actually attempted to get him some help. Everybody else just expected him to help himself. Nobody else even gave a shit. Amazing how it only took Meghan actually trying to help him instead of just fucking off when he was mean to her and he came around. Perdita gave up on him mad fast. Honestly, he's better off without someone like that in his life.
They may get back together in the finale she said she's moved on but feels like she loves Gar to much to jus let him go completely. Hated that this happened though having them break up was hoping with Perdita there she could help snap Gar out of it.
If they manage to get a season 5 I personally hoping for a raven hookup. With his now experience with dealing with depression he could really help a version raven they would have.

Yes he was. And this is a common behavior of depression and drug abuse. It's a form of self destruction. Sadly I know first hand from a time in my past. Except for the drug abuse part. It took a lot to pull myself out if it.

That's not how it works especially if you add addiction to the mix. As someone that battles depression, I would have probably been a little savage myself like he was. Theres no on and off button. She didn’t bail on him quickly. He’s been ghosting her for months, which in itself is reason enough to end a relationship, but after she comes to see him, he pretty much blows her off. She understands what he’s going through, and tries to get through to him, but she can’t. She made the right choice, because she really can’t abandon her country to be there for him.

Predita is definitely someone who you want at your side when you're at your lowest point. Those type of women are becoming less and less common nowadays.
BB says "your majesty", which isn't just a snark remark, but something we see Perdita specically despise in a previous episode. BB wasn't just refusing help, he was outright attacking her.
As understandable as her decision and stance were, literally each and every single one of you who agrees with her and thinks what she did was the right thing doesn't deserve to be loved. Yes, BB mistreated her, practically spat in her face, and threw her away after she poured her heart out to him, so he earned the breakup, but don't act as if she was any better. If you're gonna abandon a guy who reached the point where he lost all will to live, heal, or care for literally anything or anyone, then you clearly didn't love the guy from the start. You just loved how he made you feel, and how good he was for you. Love isn't just about pleasure or fun or happiness. Love is also about sacrifice, commitment, and being there no matter how bad things get. Love is when you see someone pointing a gun at the person you love and jumping in front of it to take the bullet for them. Love is when you keep chasing after someone who's hurt but refuses to let you stop the bleeding. Love is being there for someone when they're at their worst, no matter how much it hurts. Love is holding someone even though it'll kill you. Yeah, some people end up Stockholm'd, caring for people who clearly don't deserve love, but the difference is, the Stockholm'd don't acknowledge that there's something wrong. Love is knowing that they're hurt but staying anyway to help them, even if they won't help themselves. Not being angry at someone for self-destructing when they're bleeding dry and threatening to leave them if they don't immediately get up to stitch the wound.

The beast boy depression arc lasted WAY too long. Every scene he was just such a downer and it wasn't interesting to watch. We get it dude, you're depressed, why does this need to be the focus of every scene
It is Terra and if she could be Beast Boy's new girlfriend in the next season since in the last episode Perdita said that she move on with her life and that Garfield did the same so let's hope that in this universe if their romance is achieved.

Beast Boy used to be my favorite character. And still is, kinda. But this show made me kinda hate him. I get it, he’s grieving, but he’s such a jerk, and he’s aware that he’s being a jerk AND he knows that he has people who can help. But he still acts that way. It’s super frustrating, sometimes.
What's *real* funky is if in the course of their adventures they find out that his mom didn't die at Queen Bee's hands; but wound up Queen Bee's "wife"... in that case, I can see Perdita helping him navigate that strata of society- and also her rebuttals to his wicked, evil, stepmom, as in fairytales... it is the sort of completely-out-of-control naughtiness that Queen Bee would do: using her peculiar chemistry to manipulate his mom into accepting her new role as her queen's new "wife"; and that would cause all manner of emotional upset for him... plus it would help to explain why she had her special forces throw the fight in the old temple: she was more scared of the Reach than she was of her "wife's son's friends" as she'd take to thinking of them; takes a whole new trajectory on family dysfunction.
