Beast Machines Origins - The Underrated Beast Saga Of Transformers That Took Beast Wars To Next Level #transformers #transformerscollection #transformersg1 #transformerstoys #autobots
I really appreciated how they wanted to do something different with not just the overall concept but the characters too, Megatron's character development being my favorite of the show.
@@parkerfitness7173because he was in the same body as the end of season 3. The only body that was new was optimal megatron, and it was the same because he wasn’t reformatted into techno organic like the maximals other than when he briefly became noble savage
Not the only, mistake. Megatron 2 wasn't searching for a cure to control transforming. Megatron 2 developed hatred for organ life from his time on earth, briefly carrying megatron 1's spark. He was doing experiments on his own body. For the purpose of removing the organ elements, while keeping the power he had obtained.
@@TevyaSmolka The only two things I liked was Cheetors maturity and taking up leadership role and finding out that Silverbolt survived. Everything else was either weird or depressing!
Whaaaaaaaaaat!? Wow! I forgot about this show! You're definitely bringing back good memories. Please find more of these lost treasures. Beast machines were awesome! I just hope Hollywood doesn't try to remake this. We all know what happens when they do...
SilverBOLT not BOT. My only gripe. Otherwise I enjoyed the retrospective. If memory serves, I believe there were not as many character weapons or overall violence was because it was on FOXkids. I think. Not 100 percent sure.
PINning? SilverBOT? I can't tell if this video was done by an AI or not. Anyhow. . . Yeees, SilverBOLT being a Vehicon had Blackarachnia PINing over her lover.
You hit it spot on, Beast Machines had a great story and lore, attempting connect the very beginning of the timeline (as I understand it, but I dont really care for G1 transformers) with the very end of it. Rewatching it as an adult who now speaks the language, Beast Wars in spite of its episodic nature, had connected story that wrapped up beautifully in the end, and BM is the kind of thing I'm always looking for in stories, when things don't go according to plan, and the once mighty are now fighting for survival against the odds. The BM redesigns are ugly as hell though, I still asked for a Jetstorm figure when I was little because is the one thing that still looked like it transformed. The wolf dragon thing what even was that.
The story actually very well written and far less episodic than Beast Wars. However, the stylistic choices in character design were far more jarring than the shifts in the characters themselves. During the original broadcast, the final episodes were never shown in my area, so I never got to see the conclusion until I bought the series on DVD.
I think one of the biggest turn-offs for a LOT of people was the story arcs for Rhinox and Silverbolt. Rhinox turned evil JUST BECAUSE, if I remember right, and Silverbolt was villain turned whiney teenager who had only begun to redeem himself by the END of the series.
Rhinox was due to seeing both sides and weighing the options believes Megatron was right Silverbolt was conscious of his actions and found he enjoyed being Jetstorm hating that because of his chivalrous nature and the loss of his wolf qualities is simply because he scanned a bird when forced to be reformatted, didn’t get a damages scanning process which forced 2 animals to fuse to make his form
I mean when you’re fully aware that you’ve been violated and twisted into something that you go against would do that to you. That’s ptsd. And I think the writers did a fantastic job of showing how much it can change you as a person. You become angry, ashamed, scared. As a kid I was confused, as an adult with context I completely understand and it’s well executed
I remembered watching this show and thought it was OK. Coming from Beast Wars where the last few episodes of BW was great with the new Optimum Primal and Megatron Dragon. So can understand the let down with Beast Machine without the Robot transformations.
I'm sorry to any fans of the show. but I was so disappointed when I wanted this show to fill the void left by the end of beast wars. It was its own show completely and deserved to be treated as such. I never got into it, I just remember it being so dark and the aesthetic didn't jive with me at all.
It is worth pointing out the character's name was SilverBOLT not SilverBOT. Also, I hated how the transformations just looked a bright flash, and they were MAGICALLY transformed. There was nothing that seemed mechanical, at all. Having SilverBOLT and Rhinox magically transformed into bad guy machines was just dumb as hell. Plus, it was rather stupid to not having any sort of real gun, as a weapon. They just magically shot energy at each other. And in the end, Megatron changed his form into Optimal Optimus, from Beast Wars. Who the hell came up with that dumbass idea?
@@westtexastiger NO IT WASN'T! YOU ARE MEAN AND JUDGEMENTAL! THE TERRIBLE THING'S YOU JUST SAID PROVE'S THAT YOU REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HURT THE MAXIMAL'S AND BEAT THEM UP FOR FUN IF THEY CAME INTO THE LIVE-ACTION WORLD!
I am still a huge fan of Beast Wars, but admittedly I couldn't appreciate Beast Machines as much. Now as an adult I can reflect on the story and do think they did quite a phenomenal job with the story telling, but I think it wasn't the right direction for young fans. First what bothered me was the change in aesthetic and tone. Changing the Maximals from robots who had clear delineations in their transformations to organic creatures that were odd looking in both their beast form and robot form was a bit off putting. It was also too dark. Beast Wars had many heavy moments, but they balanced it out with bright colors, beautiful naturalistic landscapes, multiple small wins for the Maximals, and ended on a positive note. Beast Machines was very dark in color scheme, very grim in story telling, and very bleak for outlook. The changes in personality of the characters make sense in context in that the Maximals were dealing with memory loss, but revealing the truths and history of what happened was very slow paced and a bit agonizing. I also wasn't a fan of all the spirituality and vision quests and just made for a lot of confusion. Now as an adult I do see how all of that upped the ante with regards to what this band of Maximals was up against and makes for a more compelling story, but it wasn't a fun story. I think if they had evened out the power imbalances and given the Maximals and fans a bit more background and hope it would have made the story more fun and fans would have rolled with it.
I'm not going to lie, I love this show, not as much as beast wars, but it's still pretty good in my opinion, however this might be a hot take, but beast machines Megatron was absolutely scuffed in terms of his design
Beast Machines was a great show, it was ahead of its time and severely underrated. It was deep and dealt with heavy topics like spirituality, death, rebirth, conformity, facisim. All Harvey subjects for children and some mentally stunted adults. But if you were raised with a spiritual background or have an opened 3rd eye.
I don’t know how I feel about the design choices for most of the Maximals because they didn’t look like Transformers anymore but I like the different direction futuristic Cybertron scenery Beast Machines took instead of the prehistoric earth of Beast Wars. Cheetor was excellent and my favorite character in the show and definitely worthy of replacing Optimus Primal and leading the Maximals in a new era on Cybertron. Megatron was very brilliant and his character arc was exciting every episode. The Vehicons were cool especially Strika and Obsidian I liked their robot and vehicle modes a lot as well as Tankor, Thrust and Jetstorm. Yeah some of the stuff I didn’t like at all but it was a good series just so much different from it’s prior series in every way it’s like they are from totally separate types of series and stories only linked by the title Transformers and some of the characters
@@jayli5738 That introduced after Rhinox tsking over Tankor. And Rhinox was already fused with Tankor program,so reformating him woudnt changed anything. Besides he faked his death before they found that dna scanner trick.
I think that Beast Machines is overhated and underrated, I actually like it as much as Beast Wars. Sure, the first few episodes are a bit difficult to get into, and the new character designs might take some time to get used to. However, everything is quickly explained in the later episodes, and, if you watch BM right after BW, everything aligns quite nicely. Remember that the series begins with the Maximals being amnesiac, we find out what's going as soon as they do
The story of Beast Machines could have work better with a different cast of both villains and heroes, I mean one of the bad points of the maximals it´s that they were downgrade for the sake of the script just to ensure that they could not defend against the vehicons, but what about they protagonists were a team of new maximals that didn´t know anything about combat?, that would have work wonders to show how they developt and progress during the fights, and also putting a different villain would have allow to show a new kind of madness that could have cause a new kind of devastation that wasn´t base in Megatron megalomania, I mean the dude was defeated in Beast Wars there was no reason tu use him again as a villain
@@humangirl2122 I was talking about how they lost their transmetal bodies, they were just running like they couldn´t fend for themselves and then bam, some virus grenades explodes and they were devolved for the sake of the script
@@humangirl2122 Please, the were just nerfed for the sake of the script, the Transmetal bodies would have clean the vehicons in a blast and that wouldn´t have worked
@@rodimus7926 YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU SAY. THE TRANSMETAL BODIES WOULD DO NOTHING AGAINST THE VEHICON'S THE TECHNO-ORGAINIC'S WERE STRONGER! THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE CYBERTRON YOU BASTARD!
You haters should go back and watch beast machines again. I always thought beast wars was amazing but I couldn't appreciate beast machines until I was older.
My favorite show beast machine I love it and my favorite was blackarachia she awesome beautiful on show I have toy of 2 blackarachia from beast war. I drawing her
The background always looked very Dark. Cybertron always felt empty and lifeless. The Tone was a complete 180 from Beast wars But it had a certain Dystopian charm so to speak.
Then Watch KINGDOM & Cringe At The VoiceWork! As It's Technically Season 4. BTW; BeastWars HAD 3-Seasons in 🇺🇸 On TV & ShoutFactory DVD Sets... It Was Conjoined with S2.
If we think about transformers rise of the beast then we could perhaps know that once the autobots find there way back to Cybertron then the maximals could probably come along and help end the war
I'm supposed to believe this guy's opinion that Beast Machines is underrated when at the same time he can't even say the names of the characters correctly??
Transformers needs more risk taking, high concept sci fi like BM, maybe not the entire line this time, but I think a more mature series that pushes things in new ways would work as a side series. I still can't get my head around how such a thought provoking show, with such a hopeful message about overcoming totalitarianism at it's core is seen as the black sheep of the franchise. I'ts such a shame that we went straight back into the Car Robots/RID stuff after, Not for Hasbro or the franchise, as it turned things around a great deal for them, it just felt like the too big a step back for me, and short of reading Botcon prose stories that was sort of it for me, eventually the 2 hit combo of the Bayverse and Animated (I know Animated is held in high regard, it just wasn't my cup of tea, too many big chins) totally turned me off TF for well over a decade. I'm pinning my hopes on Robert Kirkman's Skybound Studios series at this point after IDW went loopy.
But the show did have a third season. Silverbolt was reunited with Black Arachnia and Megatron and Optimal Prime had a final showdown. I'm leaving out other notable details.
I feel like beast machines is over hated they tried to be similar to beast wars changing the formula but they failed to do it properly for old beast wars fans
I loved Beast Wars but I didn't like Beast Machines. I didn't like all of the radical changes in personality of the characters (especially Rhinox), the bizarre character designs and the plot holes. It had a few good concepts but it was definitely a major step down from Beast Wars.
In Rhinox's defense, it is seemingly implied the Tankor persona was meshing with his own, which is why when he spoke with Primal directly, it kept flashing between him and Tankor. It's like that one BW episode when Rhinox got reprogrammed into a Pred. So what we got was Rhinox's mind but corrupted by cyber purist programming from Megatron
Your channel is great but you need a script editor. Many mistakes occur in your scripts which distract from the flow. Silverbot should be Silverbolt. You refer to the series as a series and then switch to calling it a movie and referring to the show being on the silver screen which is not true. Hit me up.
Yes, they were infected by a virus that disabled their transformations and regressed their bodies back to their pre-Transmetal states. Non-Transmetals like Rhinox and Silverbolt were completely deactivated by the virus.
Going up as a kid, watching this series when it air on Fox. I wasn't a big fan of the design of the transformers. prefer beast wars designs instead. I don't think this series is underrated. it's just Meh, It has a few good episodes. It's nothing comparing beast wars was.
Ugh! I hated Best Machines. Took an excellent series and downgraded the story, writing, animation, powers and character development. Would have been so much better if they returned to Cybertron to find the Predacons overthrew the Maximals and had to work with a displaced Megatron to form an insurgency. Also - I will never forgive them for taking Rattap’s gun, balding Optimus Primal, ulglifying the spider queen, destroying SilverBoldt’a kind and optimistic heroism & turning the loyal and level-headed Rynox into a villain, by choice.
BM is far from a downgrade in writing. All of your complaints stem from not liking the fact that it was different from BW and developed the characters in ways you didn't personally like. That doesn't make it awful by any means and it's still one of the best-written pieces of TF media ever.
I want a season 3 I'm 28 and a old transformers fan. Had the dvds when I was a kid and loved it it explains more about cybertron and allway looking to learn more
This show was so terrible i was waiting for something good in it, but it never happened, ugly, tedious, character assassinations and this goddamn flowershit.. common..
Before ep 6,yes. And ep 6 is also feels out of character, but it makes you say "this is good". But after ep 6,most of the characters act like their beast wars ver. Especially Rattrap.
