Who's the rivet counter😮 Anyway lovely and delightful video as usual. Unexpected turn of events i anticipated the goods consist to de drawn away after the run around, you had the mail train hooked up instead😂. This is what makes it worthwhile to watch and also actually make the content and post it. Forget i asked about the rivet counter no one to worry about😂😂

Truly Awesome in EVERY way ...... Incredible layout with attention to detail that is second to none !!! Your videography is excellent with choice of locations from which its shot making it even more special. This is then further enhanced with top class professional editing. With a sound track that pops the "cherry 🍒 on top" - the result is one of the very best and truly atmospheric model railway videos I've seen in a very long time. I have to close by applauding you for your scenery, landscaping and scale modelling of your buildings, structures, locomotives and rolling stock. Many years of love and affection have clearly been dedicated to creating this outstanding layout. A true masterpiece 👌🏻

Ey up! What a great day out! Big surprise to see so many eastern region locos at work today! 😁 Bit concerned though, it looks like that L1 at the beginning had an issue with the trailing bogie. Could develop into a hot box and putting her out of service! 😮 I do hope the driver has spotted it and taken care of it! 🫤 Those old open back cabs! The crew must have been “reet nithered “ going in reverse on some of those Pennine routes! Lovely day lad, thanks for bringing us along. 😁👍👊😎

So one thing I've noticed is that the trailing truck has a wheelset that sticks, might need a stiffer spring to put more weight on it to get it to roll better or need to lubricate it heavier with some Oil.

Being a resident of "the East" (ie, living 8 miles from Lowestoft, the most easterly town in the country) I was very curious to see what locos you'd selected, and was not disappointed, especially by the ex-GER J15: you couldn't get more "Eastern" than that! J15s used to ply their trade through my town (Bungay) until the line closed in the 1960s. A very enjoyable video. Thanks.

As a fan of the LNER, I'm extremely happy by your pick : the L1, my favorite overall British tank engine, a superb J15 in action, the branchline queen for me... And if you ends with a K1, that's the complete package ! A great moment with ex-LNER engines, and the best ones ! Just missing a B1 to be nitpicky, but why not as a star in a 4-6-0 special ?

Hey, I'm a Yank who wants to learn more about British Railways. The last train, that picked up - what I think may have been livestock wagons - but which also included a couple of coaches on the end, and third from end - what type of train was this? Did British Railways run mixed goods/passenger local trains the way some American railroads did? I appreciate any information you can give me on this.
@lukewolsey
@lukewolsey 7 месяцев назад
That was a parcels train by the looks of it. The coaches were full brakes, so they don't have any seats in, just luggage space.
@TallboyDave
@TallboyDave 7 месяцев назад
@@lukewolseyAnd space for the guard too, of course; that'd be the 'conductor' in American parlance.
@Tinhat47
@Tinhat47 7 месяцев назад
Certain types of perishable items, like milk, were classed as express goods and were allowed to be attached (first as wagons hauling milk churns and later milk tanker wagons in the 1930s) at the end of passenger trains.
@lukewolsey
@lukewolsey 7 месяцев назад
@@TallboyDave oh yes and the symphony orchestra that was standard in BR MK1 full brakes. As everyone knows, the brake second opens were equipped with a string quartet due to the reduce space for the guard/conductor! 😂

Well, I was going to mention the difficulty with your trailing truck, but many commenters already have pointed it out, so I will not mention it. The weathering on your locomotives gives them the "look" of reality. Our mind sees a leviathan dragging many tons along the rails, rather than a fist size contraption af plastic and metal! Too many departure shots with the third engine, mate. Two would have been enough. The rear bogie on the tank engine's chassis needs some oil, it looks like. The back pair of trailing wheels isn't turning properly, I noticed. Otherwise, music to my ears.

Yeah the Hornby L1s are a weird design, they have picked ups on the bogie which stiffens them a bit, but you can remove them easily if preferred. Personally I think Hornby’s B1, K1, Britannia, 2MT, 9F etc are some of the best steam models around 👍🏻
