Looking for a hobby? Something to do while you’re stuck at home? The radio control car hobby is a great thing to get into. Of course we’re going to show you how much fun it can be! Tamiya is an RC car manufacturer that has helped countless people get into the hobby. Recently we added their Mercedes-Benz 190E Debis TT-01 Type-E On-Road Car to the collection and we took a slightly different approach to showing you this kit. This semi-review will tell you about the cars features, details and performance, but more importantly, we hope it serves as inspiration for those looking for a hobby or those in the hobby to try a fun car that might interest them. Let’s get to it RC Drivers!
Error: Please note the shocks are friction shocks. A friend helped me with the build and assembled the shocks. At a quick glance to me, they appeared to be the oil version shocks.

That’s what I was thinking mine came with the pogo sticks I used some 4 tec 2.0 shocks I had lying around , some fast Eddy bearing and a mild Hobbywing brushless system , I still need to finish 2 XV01’s and a TT02SR and I just got a TC01 I can’t stop buying Tamiya’s.

YES! But unfortunately some people think that since it’s plastic it’ll break easily, it won’t! You can even buy aluminum upgrade parts for it! And sometimes people expect some parts that aren’t included or needed. (Looking at you horizon hobby Tamiya NSX review. Someone thought that the TT-02 kits came with rubber inserts for the tires)

Also have a TT02 and build a TT01E with a friend. They are pretty similar, also in price. Funny how these things work out sometimes: I assumed the TT02 was the sucessor and therefor has to be better in every way. But there are details I like better on the TT01E while other things I think the TT02 does better. Upgrade parts are widely avaiable for both and they are relatively cheap as well. The (German) online shop I bought the TT02 at, they actually have upgraded kits. For like 30 bucks more you can get it with ball bearings as well as a Hobbywing Razer 3000kv/50A combo (which is ~50$ here). Since I already had some LiPos lying around I chose that. I also opted for an aluminum main shaft right from the start - mainly because it looks cool. Later I also got an aluminum steering rack, adjustable steering rods and CVDs. In the beginning I wanted to build the TT02 to be a tarmac drifter. But two things about that: This gets expensive *fast* as you shred those plastic tires like crazy. And I never thought the chassis behaved realistically. Maybe if you would upgrade to a one-way diff in the front it would have gotten better, as it would be easier to unsettle the rear during braking. But then you would also need a higher steering angle and a few other things to really make it into a drifter. And given that you can pickup dedicated drift chassis for around 100 bucks (3Racing Sakura D3 shortly after the D4 came out) it doesn't make all that much sense. I still want a drifter so bad. But I have nowhere to drift it. So I'll probably end up buying a (used) Slash 4WD instead and give my 2WD to my nephews. We bought and build them DT-03 for christmas (they are 6 and 8 now) and the chassis is so much fun to build and surprisingly capable offroad. They have low clearance but as most of the weight is in the back, the rear wheels just push the buggy over grass and small obstacles without any problems. But my nephews are always after the Slash. And I really like the DT-03. I will probably just take on of theirs and upgrade the hell out of it. Just for the fun of "wrenching" on those small buggies.

@@desterse3948 Nice! I always fancied one of those Plasma Edge ones they looked so good! My first was a Lunchbox build. I have added mods to it and all sorts over the years. Love it! Did u enjoy the TT02 build? I built a Neo Scorcher for my son, I'm sure that was on the TT02 chassis? Such a great build. It's the foundation of RC for me. Once you do it like we do, then it's not the same to just take one out the box and run it👌🔧🔩⚙️

Time Well Spent ayy nice!! Yeh the plasma edge has been bashed alot by my young self and had many part replacements but still goes well to this day! Yes the tt02 is probably in my opinion tamiyas best all round chassis. Ive drifted, raced and bashed my tt02 (albeit the s type) and its served me well. The neo scorcher is a tt02 derived chassis yes being the tt02b (i know this as it was my mates first rc car and i helped him build it). yeh building them is awesome! ive since bought a hobao hyper 7 nitro rtr buggy and it needed alot of work to get it to a decent bashing level but i feel building it from a kit wouldve been alot better. Still im so glad the rc hobby is having a boom everywhere at the minute. Was very worried about its state here in the uk.
@rcchronicles25
@rcchronicles25 4 года назад
@@desterse3948 Yes that's right it's the TT02b chassis. I haven't tried any of the others though I've always fancied one of the S versions and to do a bit drifting with them. Great chassis. Really versatile. You have to love Tamiya for what they are. What is that Hoboa Hyper? I haven't heard of that I'll check it out. I always fancied a Tamiya Pajero Rally. I think they look SO cool. I would want to put a faster motor in, maybe brushless, and really rally the thing around, not slow like u see the videos of them. Dakar style! Yeah RC companies have nailed it now so it's no wonder it's back on the up. I think Arrma are UK aren't they? Its companies like them that are adding to the trend 👍🇬🇧
@desterse3948
@desterse3948 4 года назад
Time Well Spent yeh only got into drifting recently and on the right surface its endless fun!! The hobao hyper is a 1/8 nitro buggy similar to kyosho inferno mp9 etc etc. I think that pajero is a rock crawler which is why theyre always going slow. My dad looked into it as he loves his pajeros (hes had several old and new) I believe arrma are american but theyre hugely popular in the uk! That’s actually my next car to save for, an arrma big rock! 😄👍🤟

I’ve subscribed and been watching your channel with my kids I’ve several months now. First, you keep your language clean. A lot of guys with RC channels don’t. -well done- Second, your reviews cover everything across the pricing spectrum. RC is a complex and expensive hobby. Not everyone can afford the high end stuff, and not everybody can handle the complexity. You give honest reviews for the products and compare them to other products on the same level, (not against the “best/most expensive”) and your tech sessions speak to everyone, not just seasoned hobbyists. -again: we’ll done- We just unboxed an ECX Amp, based off of watching several reviews and recommendation on this channel. I showed the kids how to run it, and they never gave the transmitter back. We couldn’t be happier! -Thanks!-

I started with tamiya. They are too expensive compared to Chinese now though. WPL has become my kit build interest. I wanted to buy my son a Wild Willy or Jimny but the kit costs more than RTR for the likes of maverick which are HPI brand. As long established now paid for products I don’t see why they should cost anything like they do, at least for the none posh plastic kits.

I know this is 9 Month old, but seriously a wpl is not comparable. i have a C24 as well as a Axial SCx24 and i had to invest alot into tuning parts to get a decent car out of the WPL so that in total it was even more expensive than the Axial but is still a worse car... WPLs get very heavy when you put metal parts onto them, but the stock plastic is of very bad quality compared to the fiber reinforced plastics of the axial. So my advice is think of the total price you are going to pay!
