Those stage hands in short skirts were the best reason to watch this show

Gene Wood was mostly an announcer, but he was also the host of the syndicated version of Beat The Clock in the mid seventies, and he also hosted a Canadian produced game show, Anything You Can Do, around same time. Gene Wood was also a panelist on a few episodes of To Tell The Truth in 1973.

The story goes that Jack Narz who originally hosted Beat the Clock quit the show as in order to host it he had to fly from his home in Los Angeles to Montreal (where Goodson and Todman were taping to save money)--his salary didn't even cover the cost of the periodic flights to get there and they wouldn't give him a raise or any kind of compensation for travel. Nevertheless when Concentration was re-incarnated again in the 1970's Goodson and Todman remembered Mr. Narz and hired him to host it

Jack Narz was NOT the original host of "Beat the Clock." Bud Collyer was the original host of "Beat the Clock" in the 1950s and 1960s.

Forget the $25. I'll take the clock. It would make one hell of an egg timer.

Not even a comparison to what Ivan Ditmars was doing on "Let's Make A Deal"

The Dried ice challenge was on the original 50 version with Bud Collyer and the Game Show Marathon version in 2006.

The good old days when Gene Wood, Dick Clark and the producers of the show could hang out with those prop girls and party with them after hours - not today - today you would get sued by the prop girls attorneys, the prop girls would trash you on social media for being a predator and your career and life would be over. I miss those days!

This was the version of the show that I watched on KCND-TV ch. 12 (Pembina, ND) or was it on CJAY ch. 7 (St. James, Man.). My Mom loved this show. I was 6 yo. in '72. I thought the 70s were a bad decade because of too much corniness. But alas, Beat the Clock had been on since 1950. (New) Price is Right started in Sep. '72, when I started Grade 1. These two game shows were similar to each other in a way. I liked Gene Wood more than Bob Barker. Beat the Clock? More like Beat the Kid is what I experienced back in the day.

Hello, my parents were on an episode of beat the clock in 1971. The celebrity guest was Noel Harrison. Do you have any idea on how I can find this episode? I would LOVE to watch it. Thanks! -Krista
