Providence is honestly the hardest boss of Calamity for the point of the game you fight her at. Only boss that's made me put down a playthrough temporarily
playing malice + master rn, skipped Providence and killed polterghast in 10-15 attempts and with new gear lost 200+ attempts to kill new Providence, true pain
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. I beat her yesterday after a solid hour and a half of attempts and only because I started using flying mounts for her bullet hell phase
Started my calamity 1.4 run yesterday and didn't feel it at all. Now I'm hyped again. Just the thought of not having to open doors makes the upgrade so worth it.
This is such a well edited video and also the comedy is on point, as a somewhat average calamity player I can say that malice is ball bustingly hard, and the fact that you beat it is a testament of pure determination to see it all through, but I would like to tell you something, this isn’t the hardest difficulty in calamity or terraria for that matter, if ya do or don’t know there is a seed called for the worthy which gives bosses new ai, and calamity gave some bosses some new ai changes for that seed making em much MUCH more difficult I would love to see you try that someday cuz I think it could probably make a very interesting video Also just to make sure, fargo mutant changes the seeds into mod options so you might wanna activate that once you enter the world
Theres also a difficulty mod for Calamity called infernum mode. Because for some people malice is not hard enough. Lots of AI changes, faster projectiles, etc. Fargo's souls Eternity mode is also much harder than malice calamity, though I haven't seen anyone compare Eternity and infernum.
I think its funny that the reason Providence was so hard is he was fighting her at NIGHT Nighttime Providence is more placed at the end of a playthrough, about between the Yharon area of progression. You would fight her normally at night before Exo but after DoG. Daytime Providence is the recommended way to progress, being significantly easier and not having stupid annoying attacks unlike her Nighttime counterpart

Hardest boss for me was Devourer of Gods, 396 attempts over the course of 2-3 weeks. I was suffering and now I have the hell that is Exo mechs to deal with :) Update: I managed to get every boss (except AEW) Done about a week before malice got removed. Exo mechs took 72 attempts, and Supreme Calamitas took 9, somehow. I then proceeded to get to SCal first try in boss rush but died there.
Exo mechs are pretty easy IMO. Spoilers for the fight: If you make sure you can't get your head caught on something while you fly, then just flying at max speed and then falling avoids the vast majority of the projectiles. Rest of them you have to dodge.

You had me at 0:56 with those good mods. Started my Master Malice Calamity playthrough only like a week ago when I realized it hit 1.4, giving summoner a spin since the addition of things like whips. I usually like to go ungabunga melee with as much defense, or as much melee speed as possible. Also want to mention that sweet sweet extra accessory slot from master mode, in addition to the two from calamity.
I think besides the free wing slot mod I agree, the free'd accessory slot just brings too much power for free in my opinion and makes it a noticable bit easier to play

You should try out the Radiance mod, it reworks daytime Empress of Light into a post moonlord superboss and adds some cool accessories dropped from it. You can still get terraprisma by killing nighttime EoL without taking damage but you wont get the superboss EoL drops. I'll try not to spoil anything else just in case you decide to check it out.
In older versions of calamity, 1.3 specifically, theres an item called defiled rune which disables wing for a crit damage buff along with iron heart which forces you to no hit all bosses, they were removed since simply nobody used them and the challenge can just be added superficially instead but they were still fun and technically a difficulty incase you want to revisit this challenge.
SCal is a probably my favourite final boss in any game and I hope that the devs keep SCal as the final boss, the music is perfect, the fight is brutal but fair and the final moon phase is absolutely bullshit
scal already isnt technically the final boss, theres an equivalent tier endgame boss in the form of exo mechs & the superboss adult eidolon wyrm after both

I was reconsidering my entire life choices when I saw the title, then I realized it’s not master or ftw and I breathed a sigh of relief. I’m trying to make a series out of that and this man posted an entire playthrough in just a day? Almost shook me to my core lol
I'm currently doing a modded master mode world with the secret seed "for the worthy". It's a good time. I'm using pretty much just the calamity mod. At the start, blue slimes almost oneshot and zombies do completely one shot. The first order of business is to go get molten armour as fast as possible, and even then stuff does a TON of damage. I have killed bosses up to the difficulty of the Brain of Cthulhu so far. It's not easy, but that's the point lol
And yet, You didn't also use Fargo's Eternity Mode. When stacked with Malice, despite the mod's item warning you not to, it'll turn any main-line boss into a STRUGGLE. Beating EoC gave me the same rush as injecting many illegal substances into my male genitals. Playing with a live grenade might be less traumatizing than playing "Master (e) Malice Eternity," which I've dubbed MeME Mode. Give it a try, you'll hate it. :)
That's legit easier than the two seperate, you just have to get through the early game. the boss AIs don't combine, when I did this all that happened was I had better weapons and armor from calamity to use against the eternity mode bosses
@@michaelmiller2210 you would be, sorely mistaken. EoC AI very much changes with both enabled. Malice causes more dashes and more aggressive behavior, while Eternity adds projectiles, debuffs and extra minions. That doesn't end there, Eternity's projectiles for EoC are tied to the dashes and Malice overall makes minions spawns more abundant. Even having Magic Dagger early, (Eternity spawns Mimics pre-hard,) doesn't save you from the struggle of it.
@@PlaguedLime i literally did it already, and it was easier. It really wasn't even close. Maybe the AI did combine, because I do remember struggling in the early game more than normal, but every boss from plantera to mutant was easier, and every calamity exclusive boss was noticeably a cakewalk except for yharon
@@michaelmiller2210 something must be different, Master Malice Eternity causes the game to become unforgiving. EoC becomes early game wall, Deerclops refuses to be ranged out, and WoF is a damned endurance test. Of course, Pre-Hardmode is a struggle but for obvious reasons, your weapons and armor are limited, most accessories are milk toast, most useful is laudenuam or supreme death bringer fairy. how many "Quality of Life" mods are you using? :)
Now do Infernum mode, an extra mode offered by a different mod. It changes basically every attack pattern in the game, makes a lot of attacks look cooler, and just changes all the bosses immensely, but it's so fun and also so hard. Unfortunately Malice mode got removed, but Infernum is here to replace it. if you try it, DoG will be your hardest challenge, in my opinion.

Last time I played Calamity I played revengeance death mode (up to last boss calamitas) a few months before tmod 1.4 dropped. I can't fathom how much craziness is in store for me if I came back
I don't know If you knew this already, but you can bomb Cryonic Ore after cryogen's defeated, making the need of a Titanium/Adamantite Pickaxe nullified
like straight up the only thing you get from vanilla terraria mastermode are pets from bosses and relics 2 items which are just cosmetics and i almost forgot that it also makes every slime a miniboss and a vulture harder than moonlord
funny story; when i played calamity (Revengeance only) i managed to beat most of the bosses in the usual order. king slime EoC EoW Skeletron but then came queen bee who i just couldnt beat, idk why, i just struggled. so i just skipped the boss for a while... and accidentally waited so long that i defeated slime god before queen bee

Honestly the title is a tad bit clickbait considering... Journey Master Malice FTW. But the journey mode scaling does make it practically impossible. Master malice FTW should take the cake for the hardest difficulty atm. (Besides masochist mode in Fargos souls mod)
God I love the providence boss fight. It will kick your shit in but it is so damn worth it to master that fight. PLUS THE MUSIC BRINGS THE FIGHT TO AN 11!
man i feel bad for you on the providence fight as i think no matter where you fight it it is still considered nighttime providence in malice mode (technically enraged providence)
I believe it’s called calamity inferno. It’s a separate mod that brings the difficulty up and changes most boss ai. And it is Quite a bit Harder than malice mode.
A lot of people tend to think that PCs are super expensive or something, but that's because people look at high end PCs A high end PC is more than 3-4 times faster than the latest console and prices grow exponentially the better the parts are, they aren't on-par with performance and unless you're looking to play some experimental new games with incredible resource consumption, you def. don't need that kind of PC You can get a PC that can match a console for pretty much the same price, specially now that GPUs became way cheaper And for a game like Terraria, you don't even need that
you could have done Kalciphoz RPG for this playthrough, it made for a crazy challenge on top of everything because of the progressive scaling, I think the best RPG mod purely because it feels fair, you get stronger, they get stronger
When 1.4 (Kinda) Calamity came out I immediately started a For The Worthy Master Revengence Death Malice Run and lets just say I hate my life now but atleast Im feel accomplished
Providence is what I consider the great filter for Calamity. She will tear any new player a new one and any vet knows just how much of a fight she is in death/malice mode.
You could make it even more nightmarishly hard if you wanted, by putting in the seed For the worthy, putting it on master mode, malice with death mode and eternity mode from Fargo's soul mod anyone who manages to complete a run like that will be a huge achievement.
Have you tried infernum mod? Its an addon for calamity that makes the bosses harder and it adds new biomes and naturally spawning arena like places in some biomes.
So do you never end up fighting the Tyrant King at the end? I skimmed the lore wiki for the mod and it seemed like where the buildup should have gone. Poor dragon btw.

Honestly? I feel like currently hardest difficulty in terraria in total is.. Calamity + Fargo's Eternity mode + master mode + For the worthy + Elemental unleash, with all the stuff they add. That be painful.
