Thanks so much for taking the time to write. Don’t be too hard on yourself about learning of Beauport only recently. The property maintains a pretty low profile, including a modest gift shop and no cafeteria. Don’t let that deter you, however, as Beauport is a truly wonderful property and a visit is highly recommended. One hopes you can visit soon.
“Whimsical and delightful” is well stated. Indeed, a visit to Beauport makes for a truly memorable Interior design experience, one that should not be missed. Thanks for writing.
Cape Ann is where I grew up and still have family. How did I not know of this fabulous mansion? thank you for showing it to me, and on a visit in December I hope I might visit.
His eyes were very big and mysterious. Considering the unique colors, angles and broad range of inspiration in his home, it seems that he "saw" things in his own secret way. Beautiful!
Very well presented. It gave me the abikity to see the rooms without rushing through them like most historic house videos. It was nice to learn a little bit more about Skeeper.
Thanks so much for your observations. As suggested, we prefer a more leisurely presentation, allowing viewer to savor the visuals. After all, the visuals at Beauport are exquisite. So glad, too, that you came away better informed about Mr. Sleeper. Thanks again for reaching out.
@DavidDillon101 I wonder if Ben Poores "Indian Hill Farm" which was also owned by Histiric New England, but sadly burned, could have been an early inspiration for Sleeper. Everyone knew Poore, and everyone visited his farm? Both Poore and his father were very early collectors of both decorative arts and early building parts. Sleepers stone round room is very much like Poores. It would make an interesting program. Sleepers rooms are truly exceptional.
You’ve provided some good food for thought. While I can’t speak to any possible connection between Sleeper and Indian Hill, I would agree that his rooms are truly exceptional. Thanks for taking the time to write.
Thank you for taking the time to write. We’ve also had the pleasure of touring Hammond Castle and you can find that video on this channel. Both Beauport and Hammond are special places.
Using the light from the windows to illuminate(?) the coloured glass was my favorite part. Everything else looked old ( i mean i know it was) stolen from churches, dull browns. Biggest miss was @6:09! The wonderful quilt. Who made it ? Has it been dated? Thats a history bite all in itself.🙂💓
Thank you for your keen observations, particularly the note about the quilt. Beauport is a tremendous feast for the eyes and it seems like wherever you turn there is something noteworthy and distinctive to examine. Thank you for writing.
