They said that they’ve got six months of videos to catch up on and maybe by that time there might be some more content. They definitely will not be full timing it again until they’ve got plenty of money saved up or have the desire to leave the rat race again.

This is a sweet sailing vessel. I only found out about it after watching about the HH-44 OC on the Gone with the Wynns' yt channel. Anyone using modern video equipment (for instance with zoom meetings) is going to immediately tell you to change out those awful LED lights for something with programmable spectrum high frequency lights that won't strobe when using good video equipment or even a modern phone. They should be warm spectrum at night, and daylight spectrum during the day. If you're spending this much on a boat traveling the world this is the kind of detail we should expect. That said this is an awesome boat! Stay safe out there!

Thanks so much for the interview and walkaround. Seth gave a fantastic presentation about the boat. There is so much good engineering in these, especially the rigging and sailing equipment, even if I don't like a few of the minor styling details. Feedback: using a lapel microphone for the interviewer too would make the audio much clearer.

The only thing for which I have a mild dislike about this boat, is that it is not, interiorly, nautical. Some of the deck and tables are beautiful, but the rest looks like white vinyl, cheap motel décor. The most gorgeous, nautical interiors were designed by Hylas (56 feet or less). Emulate. HH Yachts would be better served with warm, wooden, rounded corner elegance that captures the romance of sailing. You know, the difference between an YACHT and a boat. Just my preference for ambiance, but as a sailing platform, Yabba Dabaa Doo!

HH pays attention to their customers, in particular to the customer comments and observations. As evidence of this get a look the all electric hybrid HH44OC, hull 3 that was just turned over to Jason and Nikki Wynn. who produce the RU-vid seres "Gone with the Wyns. If you want to know exactly how HH build boats the Wynns were in the factory a lot and documented every step of the carbon hybrid design, development and evaluation phases plus they were on-board to document the at sea trials. along with some extremely interesting interviews with HH staff and management.

Very nice interior design. I am impressed to see rounded corners on galley counter tops & tables; I find this a major safety issue that most sailing catamarans lack. If I could see better I'm sure many other features would further impress me.

I really like the weight contract and including the weight of each option in the selection list. On a boat I've ordered half of the Flexiteek option - I calculated- weighs 350 lbs. This wasn't from the builder, this was my estimate based on what I guesstimated was the product and area. (I've decided against it - but why should I have to figure all this stuff out.) Also as a kayak maker - hardly comparable to a 50' performance cat - nevertheless it's just too damned easy to add a little bit more here and there, buy an extra gallon of epoxy... and an 18kg boat becomes 25 kg.

Fantastic boat. Shame about the air conditioning rubbish around the mast interrupting the view. Also surely having seating that wraps around a table would be better, so when sitting have drinks, meals or playing cards you are facing each other. I don't know why builders add an ugly window within a within a window that interrupts the view. Put full size sliding windows like the Outremer 55 or a separate vent window.

I have a question about using all 100% carbon fiber.....During an around the world race last year many carbon fiber boats began to have structural issues once the boats were engaged in heavy seas. Many of the teams looked dumbfounded and let down as they viewed the damage on their boats. Many videos out there to illustrate that. Is the industry trying to figure out and remedy these issues as not all people are racers but everyone can at times find themselves in bad sea states from time to time? In the short term, carbon fiber looks great but the long term results are showing at least some of the weakness in how carbon fiber is used or not designed correctly? It is being pushed across the industry because it is supposedly cheaper, lighter and better then using wood yet it seems to have its own issues. Wood at least has 1000's of years of use to refer to but the fiber is still pretty new with really no long term data on how well the fiber will hold up to the world of salty sea. If the industry in the future dictates that all boats be made of carbon fiber, will it remain cheap or will it be, "now we can charge you more since everyone is required to use carbon fiber". (example...car insurance required, to get there they promised lower premiums yet premiums never go down just up)

Race boats are built to a very fine line and are not typically built to CE or ISO standards. They are built to whatever thickness they deem strong enough for the stresses they are expected to encounter while saving as much weight as humanly possible. Meanwhile, at HH, they are building the boats for a commercial purpose and must meet the hull thickness and strength requirements of CE and ISO standards. It's a good question though. ~Seth
@numerical968
@numerical968 2 года назад
Structural issues have nothing to do with the fiber material generally, it's a design issue. Stiff structures, carbon or otherwise, will experience higher peak loads. There are plenty of cases of cabin composites performing in high reliability environments.
@LoanwordEggcorn
@LoanwordEggcorn 2 года назад
Pure racing boats are built to be as light as possible. Production boats are designed for a LOT more durability, including ones that use Carbon fiber. It's like saying a Formula 1 car isn't as durable as an SUV.
@helicart
@helicart 2 года назад
Race boats are built to be competitive. Race tech evolves quickly i.e. 3-5 years, so that's how long carbon race boats are designed to last. So it's a rich man's sport. Ocean cruisers are designed to last 40+ years. Carbon fiber reinforced composites fail due to interlaminar stresses and impact forces. As others imply, carbon is strong enough for purpose, only if layout and thickness is appropriate for the stresses and impact forces applied. This is where the genius of carbon design is found, combined with knowing where to save weight. I have the top tech in road bicycles. My best carbon bike is 10 years old. It could last 50+ years if I don't put it down on the road, subjecting it to stresses its fibers are not layed up to resist.

the first shot shows amazing interior design…and then you proceed with showing us comparatively drab variants, on other units. bad marketing. And Seth is big enough to speak unprompted by Mr Moustache - cheesy formula. What Scott Rocknack can do, Seth can do. This is actually painful to watch, in places. Sort yourselves out!
