I was so surprised that your facsimile edition of Jane Eyre wasn't number one. :o What a twist! But I definitely understand that soft spot you have for Dune as it was your first. ;) I have a similar thing with Folio Society's Little Women. It is suuuch a gorgeous edition.

It is wonderful to see such passion about nice books. I will order my first Folio editions soon. Probably 1984, MOBY DICK and THE EXORCIST, which look terrific but not expensive.

Wonderful video! ♥️ I noticed on one of your responses, you mentioned that you usually wait until sales to purchase anything from folio society now. But do you think the Jane Austen books will ever go on sale or should I just scoop those up now?

Thank you, Ethel! Hard to say. Honestly, I would wait. They are really expensive. I suppose they sell well, otherwise they would not have published as many titles (they could have stopped at Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma). Every year, near Christmas, they offer discounts for collections. They're probably going to give a 15% discount on all of Jane Austen's books (if you buy the entire collection). It could be a opportunity to get all of them in Dec 2018 or Dec 2019.

Not sure I could choose individual books, but the collections that first come to mind would be Andrew Langs rainbow fairy books, The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, Dante’s divine comedy/John Milton’s paradise lost. The 2012 edition of Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, All above by folio society Grimms fairy tales/East of the Sun and West of the Moon by Taschen Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, hyde edition by amaranthine books I would also consider the complete hans Christian Andersen fairy tales by folio, as I am in love with the texture of the paper! And my oddball, would be the “zombie apocalypse!” Books/world war Z, as the layout is of written letters, newspaper columns, emails, etc. Just don’t expect anything regards the story! Oh I don’t own it but the folio societies Limited edition of Alice in wonderland looks amazing, but that is too expensive for me!

I just got the FS edition of Paradise Lost... it is so beautiful! Folio Society books are incredible but I must confess that I like the idea of collecting good quality books on a budget, and that’s why some of my favorites aren’t Folios.

Twelfth night is indeed letterpress printed as confirmed by the folio society customer service. The leftover pages of the limited edition were used for this gift edition.

Love your videos like these, thank you for sharing. I think the Little Women edition did not have the illustrations from one of your other videos but maybe that was another edition? Are you collecting FS just if they are unique printing? (Sorry reading the other comments...)

Hi! Thank you! You mean the Jane Eyre edition, right? It does have some illustrations. Folio editions always bring illustrations, usually unique, but sometimes they reprint works from the golden age of illustration :)

Sorry I meant Little House on the prairie edition you have here lol! I have little women on the brain since I just went to the Louisa May Alcott house lol! Sorry. Yes the FS illustrations are gorgeous!

You right, that boxed set doesn't have the lovely illustrations by Garth Williams. I recently got a paperback collection with full-color illustrations because I'm in love with the series :)

Have you tried buying from Easton Press? Is it worth it? I just subscribed their monthly classic books but not sure if I should pay a lot for it. Do you recommend other editions?

Katherine Javier I don’t collect EP but as far as I know the quality is great. My only criticism is that some of them look very tacky, but that’s a matter of taste.

Renato B Jane Eyre, a facsimile limited edition of the original manuscript printed by a french publisher :)

I learnt new publishers, how to inspect the quality of a book, what to look for, how to organise them. I am in the process of building my library and I am so inspired by your videos. I really don't want to sound nosey or make yoy uncomfortable with my question but just consider me as a friend looking for inspiration... what do you do for a living ? And how do you arrange to afford all these luxurious gems of books. I've always wondered how and when will I ever be able to create a library like that of my own... I know I'm just a student and still a lot for me to come but would love some tips and hints that I may consider in the future if I ever get a decent job and can invest in such editions. You don't have to answer if you don't want to of course I'd understand although an answer will be highly appreciated ! 😊 thank you for the neat content.

Hi! I'm a Journalism/Design/Media Professor. I hope you achieve your goals soon. If I can give you some advice: when you start your career, try to earn as much money as you can and spend as little as possible. Invest your money wisely. Be patient and over time you will start to have extra $$ to buy expensive books without jeopardizing your future and other goals. ☺

How do you feel when you get a foliosociety edition from eBay and then they end up reprinting it in a couple of years?

Very unlucky because they reprinted it 3 months later! But this is one of the lessons I learned since I started collecting FS: do not buy expensive editions on eBay, and, most importantly, wait for sales. I had just bought an LE and it went on sale. It was the last time. I'll only buy during sales now. It's what everyone has been doing lately but I do not know if this is good for FS ...

BookCravings yes, I feel your pain. I also ordered '10 days that shook the World' almost immediately after its release and now it's on sale. I think most of their non-fiction editions and collectors' editions that don't sell within a year after its release always end up on sale or some special offer. I'm pretty sure that their next special offer will include all the books by Ray Bradbury, like the one they had with Isaac Asimov and Douglas Adams.

I prefer fake leather too! I really loathe books with real leather covers...just the thought of books with a poor dead animal's skin on it makes me feel disgusted and sad. I never buy leather covered books! Linen or faux leather is so much nicer!

Have you read the rest of the Dune series? It’s one of my all time favorites. But DO NOT read the ones written by Herbert’s son. They’re awful.

I only read the first one and I heard the other ones are not as good. Would you recommend the second book?

BookCravings The second one, Dune Messiah is one of the weaker ones but it’s also very short. The third one Children of Dune is much better but the fourth, God Emperor of Dune is amazing. I really liked Heretics and Chapterhouse as well.

@@EvanBNW I agree completely. Messiah felt more like a short prequel to Children rather than a true sequel. Haven't started God Emperor yet but I am very much looking forward to it!
