We are currently working on a golf project now but probably won’t be posting for another few months because it’s a few days work. Can’t wait to show you golfing friend!
I've never been one for golf but I totally get it and to make your own putter, what an awesome idea! I used to go to a local field as a kid with one ball and a club to just hit it from top to bottom 😂. This is super slick, love the details! Great video Stan, keep em' coming! 👍👍
@@TurningsbyTurner Haha...thanks...I am using mine in a tournament this weekend...I putted so well with it yesterday that two people asked me to make them one!
Thanks so much...I would love to see what you come up with...shoot me a picture if you can to my email stancrafted@gmail Oh...I also made a few with three lines at the top instead of one...definitely like that look better.
What a great video! That was a ton of fun to watch. Is there anything you cannot make? I love the club but the paint thinner trick was brilliant. I can imagine how it suppresses the tacky surface and allows the grip to easily slide on, then it evaporates and the grips stays firmly in place. Brilliant!!!
Nice looking putter. I'm sure you have thought about this but a pre-bent shaft might be good for your next one. It would cost some ready made or with your talent most likely you could find a way to do that. I'm guessing here but a bent shaft might offer a better balanced club. I bet that wood on ball feels sweet. Thanks for the video, Dennis.
Hi Dennis...thanks for the comment...funny you should mention the bent shaft...I found a putter at Goodwill that had one and took the shaft out of it for another putter. I’ve made 5 so far and like that one the best. The wood definitely has a nice feel to it. Thanks again!
Hi Stan, As you said in the thumbnail that is a beautiful wooden putter. Great work and the explanation of the process was so easy to follow. Hope your finger gets better soon. Take care. Cheers, Huw
Thank you, Huw...yeah...that bit with the finger was just a healthy reminder that going fast and being careless is stupid...thankfully twas just a scratch...I knew better as I was doing it...but it didn't stop me...when will I ever learn?
Thanks, Grumpy...you know...I really should know your first name...it's hard for me to call you Grumpy all the time :-) I appreciate your support and your videos...we have a similar "shoot from the hip" style...not a lot of plans...although I did run a sketch out of this one.
That was crazy good Stan, if it’s good it doesn’t need words. I assume the weight and all worked out or was there anything different you would have done?
Thank you, Harki...I actually made the first one just to have a prototype of a putter I was going to have built for me to play around with a new putting style. It's very upright, a little bit longer and a bit heavier...the fact that it actually felt good and the ball came off the face well was a pure bonus! I weighed all of the components before glue up so I knew I would be close to what I wanted. At this point I can't say I'd do a lot different...but I am going to be making a few more in different head designs now that I know they are viable.
What a wonderfully novel idea for a project and a vid! Superb vid with excellent music and such a lot of intriguing details. I'll reserve myself to one question - what's going on with the paint thinner at the end there? I didn't understand that bit. Cheers Stan, just a super job all round.
Thank you, Mark...I actually thought about narrating this one because of things like that...but, I really enjoy answering questions in the comments and I didn't really know how much to narrate as some viewers might play golf and others not at all. The tape used to put all grips on clubs is a double sided affair...first you apply it to the shaft...then you need to dowse the tape and the grip both in solvent to make it slick enough to force the grip on the shaft...without it you'd never get the grip on. Thanks as always for your support!
@@StanCrafted I see, I guessed it must be something like that but I've never seen that done before. Live and learn, eh? Brilliant job mate, thanks again.
I used epoxy. I think it helps if you rough up the tip of the shaft with sandpaper and then clean with denatured alcohol. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Steve...I don't have a template for that putter...I actually made about a dozen all with slightly different designs. I will try to get some measures tomorrow and post them for you.
@@StanCrafted that would be awesome thank you. My dad loves golf so when I saw your video I thought Xmas gift. Thanks again. I'll keep an eye out for those dimensions.
@@inspectorsteve2287 The basic measures that I use are 4 inches across the face of the putter that taper out to 4.5 inches one inch back. The front to back measure is 3 inches and the width across the back is 2.5 inches. Hope this helps! If you have any questions you can find me on Instagram at Stancrafted
@@StanCrafted that helps a lot. I do have one question. I don't have Instagram so I hope this is ok. You said it's 4.5 inches wide on the face but then say "one inch back" did you mean to say one inch thick?
@@inspectorsteve2287 No worries...the face is 4 inches and then it tapers out to 4.5 inches one inch back from the face...the widest part is one inch from the face. The face is just over 1 inch thick though...I forgot to mention that.
I thought that it would be significantly different, but really it’s not. If anything the wood putter feels slightly softer...but just barely...and for most golfers that is a bonus. In fact, lots of metal putters have some sort of insert to get a softer feel.
Hi Morgan, I used four two-ounce weights in the putter...but, I like a heavier putter. That puts the head weight at just over 400 grams...and typical weight for a putter is closer to 350-360 grams.
@@morganray3994 Those aren't necessary they were an alignment aid. I'm now doing three stripes instead of one...I like that look better. I think I have a picture of one on my stancrafted instagram page
