A day trip to Edinburgh!

We love the park and ride to avoid city parking worries and expenses. It’s around a 2 hour drive and then 11 minutes on the train to Waverley. This is great although the trains are only hourly in the main so check the timetables before travel.

Always have our favourite places to go including St Andrew’s Square, St Andrew’s Quarter and a mooch in the ‘fancier’ designer stores (including Harvey Nics) in between.

This time we opted for a walk to the castle and after seeing Camera Obscurer online decided to give it a go. It’s pricey admission and we could have definitely stayed much longer but we were becoming conscious of time and finding somewhere to eat! There was so much to see and do and we loved how interactive it was for the children. At almost £70 for 4 it was an expensive ‘extra’ for the day though.

Amarone had been on our wish list so we stopped by and they were able to accommodate us which was great. Food, service and surroundings were brilliant although it was on the pricier side I think it was justified.
I loved the Art Deco style and the little details that reflected even in the fonts on the menu.

Another great last minute adventure.
