+Xavier Frosth - Aloha from Hawaii! The name for the business was based on a 2 month trip to the Kenai Peninsula and other destinations in Alaska and BC. We first named our beloved chocolate lab Kenai, and then used the name for the business almost 20 years ago. When we relocated to Maui, i thought there may be a reference in the Hawaiian language to Kenai, but have not found one. There is a peninsula on the North Shore of Maui called Keanae, thats as close as I have found.

Hula is Hawaiian Dance, Hawaii is One of the many Polynesian Cultures, all arising from a common ancestry. "Polynesian" refers to the many Pacific Island cultures. At their heart, the various Polynesian dances share commonality, but each is also unique to the island(s) of its origin. Prior to western contact and due to so many years of isolation, the Hawaiians developed their own form of dance known has Hula. Some Hula is rooted in more ancient traditions, some Hula is influenced by western aesthetics, but is still distinctly Hawaiian.

@@Manoatevarua Samoans are Polynesian, yes, as per the description. But the dance at 1.25 is not Samoan. Samoans don’t sway their hips like that. Could be Tahitian too but definitely not Samoan.

Yes, that is why they wear the skirts.

Mahalo for commenting. It is their hips that create a pleasant rhythmic sway. Belts and skirts accentuate the action of the hips. It is a specific correct movement of the hips that creates the effect. One can’t just wobble or flail.
